PGR 4! 5 April 2010
Fun:
Well what can i say?. I brought this game after a friend told me how briliant it was :) but as a owner of pgr 3 i had my doubts as the unrealisticness of pgr 3s money put me off. But it proved me wrong. Great buy but can get boring once completed

Solid Arcade Racing 13 Nov 2009
Fun:
PGR 4 is a game that is very easy to pick up and play. For non petrolheads you don't have to concern yourself with tuning your car since there are no tuning options. You can also select how difficult you want your race to be, although playing on a more difficult setting will get the best rewards.

As with PGR 3 there is an arcade mode where you compete in single events such as street races, time trials, kudo events and speed challenges to win an award - either bronze, silver, gold or platinum. If you win in bronze then you can go back and have a go on silver and so on. One of the first things I noticed is that it was a lot more difficult to get silver awards than in PGR 3. The reason for that is that there appears to be a lot more city based circuits. These narrow road, tight cornered circuits will see you spending what is often a frustrating amount of time crashing off barriers. Lets face it, the streets of London aren't made to be raced around at 150 mph. Kudo races are often near impossible too for the same reason since you don't have the sweeping bends in order to perform giant drifts. Driving over bumps in the road at high speeds will leave you airborne, frequently sending you flying into a barrier at a right angle, making you wonder how that happened when you were driving in a straight line. These annoyances do affect the gameplay and I have to say overall it is less fun to play than PGR3.

But then to compensate, we have the career mode, which PGR3 of course did not boast. Here, you start as a rookie at the bottom of the championship, and work your way up by winning tournaments. As you progress more tournaments become available, and it gives the game a much longer lifespan than its predecessor. It isn't on the scale as say Forza Motorsport, but it will keep you occupied for quite a few hours. The variety of challenges on offer, and the range of vehicles you will be permitted to use in each one, means it never gets boring either.

So its really a question of size over substance. My own personal experience was that it just wasn't as much fun to drive as PGR 3, and on the rare occassion I was on a track that gave me the opportunity to do huge drifts round large sweeping bends, the type of arcade racing the PGR series strives for, I almost pined for PGR3. But then once you put these minor annoyances aside and learn to be forgiving of its gameplay you are left with a pretty solid arcade racer, and one of the best of its kind on XBox 360 too.

Fun:
Obviously this game is a few years old now, but it's great fun for playing multi-player offline, which is not offered much these days. Single player is good fun as well. Well worth it.

a fun casual game but with MASSIVE depth for more hardcore players
Granted, I haven't played this game as much as I have played Halo, call of duty, or battlefield. This however does not make it any less of a good game. Read more

The Mutt's Nuts.
Brilliant game. The software models are very, very good. The physics is pretty good, without crashes getting in the way of progress.

First-class fun.

Same Formula, Same Fun
The one thing that you can be sure of with a PGR title is that it sticks to the same formula every time. The tracks and the cars may change but the way you play remains the same. Read more
