Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

How BVG CD-ROM Interactive Multimedia Training Works:
Each CD-ROM tutorial is interactive! You will see and hear the instructors explain how to use the computer software. You have the choice of either performing the exercises in a simulated environment or playing the tutorial and watching while the computer does all the work.

Maneuvering through the tutorial is easy. An operation menu at the bottom of the screen lets you skip forward, backward, pause or repeat giving you control over your training. You can play a complete chapter, review a specific topic within a chapter or search the index to locate the topics you are having trouble mastering. It's easy to go back later to review a certain topic without having to watch the entire tutorial again.

All of this makes CD-ROM training effective and convenient!

2.0 out of 5 stars Java Training Multimedia, 16 May 2002
By A Customer
The 3 Cds could fit on a single CD so the actual coverage was not so great. The end of chapter tests only worked on the second CD and then there was no feedback, simply a mark out of 10. The text was, literally, read off the screen for the most part, by American ladies. You have to like American. The good part was where they highlighted code as they explained it. There was no written material with the CDs at all, a reference guide to the important points would have saved taking notes. It was at times difficult to go back or find a particular point again, there was a refresh loop button which served OK for the very last piece read out. The third, advanced disc, was more informative and covered debugging quite well plus 'beans'

2.0 out of 5 stars OK for a basic overview, 26 Jan 2003
I'm not sure it's worth £12, but for something less it's not bad way to get an overview. Mick Weston's overview is spot on, plus it worth adding it only covers Java 1.1 not Java 2. Quite a few differences.

Easy to work thru though.

2.0 out of 5 stars This is confusing!!, 17 Nov 2003

I originally bought this CD Rom course from a local shop, and, once I had worked my way through the first disc, I found the second disc was all about Java Script instead of Java!
The label on the front of the disc stated Java, and so I thought the content was the same. This will teach me to buy from anywhere else than Amazon! As far as the discs are concerned, the topics are presented logically and simply, even though the American presenter tended to slow down when spelling out the URLs.

All in all, a strange experience, as I wanted to learn about Java Script, anyway!
