Book Description

**2014 HOLT Medallion merit award-winner**

Very human Tau Cetus police agent Jai Turner is sent undercover as a Beautiful Dolls sex robot in order to bring down the planet's most notorious arms dealer, Marque Callex. The police have never been able to get close to Callex, and Jai’s assignment is to use the Beautiful Dolls' legendary sexual techniques to coax information out of Marque on his illicit dealings – information that will lead to his conviction.

Reclusive arms dealer Marque Callex only accepted an invitation from Beautiful Dolls because with his deadly line of work – and the dangerous secrets he’s keeping – he can't afford to let a real woman into his life.

But neither Jai nor Marque are what they seem, and their week together has consequences neither expect.

More About the Author

Jenna Ives writes for several publishers under a variety of names, but mostly the reason is to keep her poor sainted mother (who used to read sweet Barbara Cartland romances) from having a heart attack over how sexy modern romances have become! And Jenna certainly DOES write sexy... Visit her website at www.jennaives.com or her blog at www.fierceromance.blogspot.com.

My Review:
This book had a really interesting premise. Obviously set in the future, it had a sci fi twist with the fact that Jai is a cop, who's requested to go undercover as a sex robot. Even in this future world, this is not something that Jai is comfortable with, but one of her fellow cops was murdered by this man, Marque Callex, and they haven't been able to get near him any other way to get evidence about him. It's the only way and though it makes Jai really uncomfortable, she's willing to give up that comfort to catch this man that she and the force knows needs to be taken off the streets. He has her services for an hour every day for a week at lunch. In that time, she's supposed to get him relaxed enough with her so that he talks to her. It works...and Jai discovers he's not the man she thought he was.

Like I said...interesting, right?? It was and I found myself really mesmerized by this situation that Jai and Marque find themselves in. Marque is under a LOT of stress in his job and knows he needs to let go some and that's why he agrees to the sex robot, but is shocked to find that he really likes her. He never suspects that she's not a robot, but is surprised by just how life-like and real she seems. He's also a bit disturbed by how distracting she is to him. He's fascinated and drawn to her in a way he never has been with other woman.

Jai's in a tougher spot. She has to continue to act robot-like in very un-robot-like situations. She also quickly discovers that Marque is nothing like she expected. She likes him and begins to feel really uncomfortable with what they are doing. And as things are revealed, the hopelessness of their situation hikes up. He will never forgive her for this deception.

I liked it. It's definitely hot....hello, sexbot, but there was also some emotion and story behind it all too. The love happened a little too quickly for my taste, but I could definitely see how the connection could evolve this quickly. Quirky, fun, and action-packed. It was DEFINITELY worth the read!
4.0 out of 5 stars Programmed To Please is a Pleasure 3 Dec. 2014

Agent Jai Turner is apprehensive about her assignment to say the least. Not only does she have to pose as the newest model of the Beautiful Dolls sexbot, she is expected to have sex with arms dealer Marque Callex and get him to reveal his secrets. Jai is conflicted when she realizes that sex with Marque is hardly a chore.

Programmed to Please has a very interesting cast of characters that are both good and bad guys. The main characters, Jai and Marques, have quite a chemistry together although it has a feeling of being taboo. Jai is attracted to the man she is supposed to bring down and Marque is having feelings for what he thinks is a machine.

I would describe Programmed to Please as sci-fi erotica. In ways it was what I expected it to be, short and hot. It was also more than what I expected, mystery and emotion. There will be more Tau Cetus Chronicles coming, and I hope to learn more about the characters in the near future. Jenna Ives made Programmed to Please a real pleasure!

5.0 out of 5 stars Erotic Sci-fi Beautiful Doll 14 May 2014
By Redrabbitt - Published on Amazon.com

I am not normally one to read Sci-fi or fantasy stories but I have to admit I really liked this one. That Jai was acting as a Beautiful Doll and the interaction between her and Marque was amazing. This story is more than the sexual relationship between Marque and what he believes is a Robot Beautiful Doll. This story is part mystery/suspense. Learning who is guilty of selling weapons, redemption between Marque and his baby sister Leora and Marque learning about true love. This is an erotic Sci-fi story that includes explicit sex, as well as, oral and anal sex.
5.0 out of 5 stars A really hot book 17 Sept. 2014

I can see why this story won a HOLT Medallion award. It’s the first book in the Tau Cetus Chronicles. It has police woman Jai Turner trying to impersonate a Beautiful Doll sex robot, which tries to impersonate a human woman. Very interesting! And while Jai is not what she seems, neither is notorious arms dealer Marque Callex, the man Jai has been assigned to bring to justice. As the layers of deception unravel in the story, the emotional ties build between the two. And there’s a totally unexpected twist at the end! I would definitely recommend this book.
5.0 out of 5 stars What's Not to Like? 8 Feb. 2015

I was drawn to this book by the beautiful cover. When I read the blurb about the story I knew I had to read it. The premise of a cop pretending to be a sex robot was intriguing. The story didn't disappoint. It delivered hot sex, a true romance, some Sci-fi, and mystery. I don't normally read erotic romances but I have to say this story was done so tastefully (with a little humor thrown in) that I can't wait to read the next book in the series. Great job by Jenna Ives.
