I am VERY hard to please and so it was with some considerable degree of trepidation that I finally plucked up the courage and ordered what I fully expected to be a 2 minute flash in the pan that would end up at the back of a cupboard along with the bread-maker, juicer, sandwich toaster etc. Boy was I wrong - what a truly fantastic machine this is. Ever since I first stood it on the windowsill it has been attracting and ruthlessly zapping every conceivable flying creature that dares make its way into my kitchen. By the end of each day the collection tray underneath has collected between 30 to 40 insects and it makes you realise just how many flies, bluebottles etc actually come into a house when you leave the garden doors open. OK so it's not exactly cheap but as they always say "you get what you pay for" - a truly superb product and worth every penny ( and NO, I dont work for the company or know anybody who does, I'm just a completely genuine and happy customer )

Living next to a field full of cows is great if you like cows and don't mind flies. Having had to keep all windows and doors shut - even on hot hot days to avoid hoards of them buzzing around ALL rooms in my house, I just wish I'd invested in one of these killing machines at the beginning of summer. Having ordered it, I had reason to contact Direct Sales for advice as to whether this model would be the most efficient. Their reply came, friendly and fast, and this arrived the next morning.

Within two minutes of turning it on it had zapped it's first blue bottle, and having been on all day, I would estimate there to be between 20 and 30 in the tray - of all sizes. I don't think there's anything quite as satisfying as the the pop-sizzle as another one bites the dust. One big bastard put up a fight and the machine zapped for a good 20 seconds. It won.

Tomorrow I plan to throw open my doors and windows and party with the cows to celebrate my new purchase.

Is it bigger than I thought it would be? Yes. It it aesthetically pleasing to look at? No. Does it make my living room feel as if I'm working in a country butchers? Somewhat. Would I recommend this model for someone with similar fly problems? Hell yes.

These work ...period!

used a little plastic, no catch-um version then decided time to recycle it as it was a false economy!

Bought a 30 watt vermatik, ..& all is well, it takes down the biggest of pests with a satisfying crackle ...& they're toast!

easy clean tray (you'll be emptying it lots)
try & hang it where both sides are exposed to max out it's efficiency, we tend to leave ours on for a few days & nights at a time.

house becomes a "no fly zone"
great value purchase, better than nasty sprays & constantly knocking the problem down a peg or two.
Additional, this has been running for several years now & has been on 24-7 since April 2011 9now writing update end of Nov 2011) ..the unit is still going strong, & the fluorescent tubes show no sign of wavering... so nice not to use horrible toxic flyspray in the house as this seems to catch all the flies along the way.

You certainly notice the difference with this in operation!

Recommended? you bet! a worthy purchase.
Boring & practical, a silent fly killing sentinel, ...there's a lot of satisfaction emptying the tray after a few days in the height of summer.

We had a rodent problem, which finished by them being poisoned and dying in our cavity walls. Then came the flies. I can be described it as something you would see in a horror film. We purchased the Vermatik to help us combat the fly problem. I had read very mixed reviews on the product, but was desperate to kill of the flies.
The review
The Vermatik arrived on time and was pressed into action immediately.Within minutes it was killing flies.
The Vermatiks fluorescent tubes provide a white glow, which looks blue when the room is dim/dark. The Vermatik is most effective in rooms with dim or no light and from dusk through til early dawn.
During the daylight the Vermatik still caught Flies, but was not so thorough. Some flies choosing to ignore it. When at night the Flies were very much more drawn to the light and it really worked well.
I did notice some Flies would be attracted into the device and would get a small shock. These Flies would then sit buzzing at the bottom of the tray, until they finally flew back into the zapper or died.
we cleaned the fluorescent tubes and tray after each use to track the results.
The product is easy enough to clean and comes with a small brush to assist.
The product comes with a chain to hold it up to a wall. I did not use this as I kept the unit mobile.
To date the product has been worth its money.
We did use this product in conjunction with Rentokil fly papers and a hand held fly zapper, as we were experiencing hundreds of flies :-(
The Flies have now gone (we hope for good) The Vermatik is packed away and will be used during spring and summer nights, probably in the kitchen and conservatory, to remove any flies that venture in the house.

I would buy this product again. It has served its purpose and helped rid us of the problem.
