This book deserves a place on any computer graphics developer’s bookshelf. Over the last few years, volume techniques have become essential to any high-end renderer and this book will bring anyone up to speed very quickly. I highly recommend this book.

This book explains the methods used to produce large scale, volumetric, computer generated effects in Hollywood feature films and the author is the leading authority working in this area. It is a wonderful book. It beautifully explains it's subject matter in a clear and thorough manner: avoiding the usual Computer Graphics pitfall of over-complicating the trivial in order to make itself seem more intelligent than it actually is. The book also comes with clear, compilable, code that produces the model images in the text. A triumph. Highly recommended
