Product Description

Dana McKinley is sick and tired. It's hard to admit but she's fed up of church, church friends, and even God. Walking the straight and narrow has never got her anywhere, especially not with the guys, and it's about time she made some changes!

However, as she sacrifices her convictions and reinvents herself in order to be accepted, she realises that there is a price to pay. And it's high. Her new friends pressure and influence her, and of course her new boyfriend wants her to do everything she knows she shouldn't. The party lifestyle isn't fun, and alcohol only makes her feel wretched.

After a series of terrible mistakes, Dana has an experience that may be the wake up call she needs. But has she already gone too far? Is she already too hardened? Can this Prodigal be redeemed?

**This is a Christian YA novel**

5.0 out of 5 stars Prodigal strikes a chord in all of us!! 14 July 2011
By Harriet
Format:Kindle Edition
This book will certainly strike a chord with anyone who has maybe gone off the straight and narrow or has felt that they wanted to! It was a compelling read and I found I couldn't put it down.

Dana McKinley comes across as a lost soul in a world full of good and bad, wondering which way to turn is something that we have all been through and can all sympathise with. Dana has been good all her life and then feels that she will never fit in by being the law abiding and respectful citizen she always has been. She try's to reinvent herself and in doing so starts a chain of events that will compel any reader.

I found myself finding similarities with myself and started to wonder if the book was about me! It deals with emotions and thoughts that we have all had at sometime or another, but it deals with them in such a way even when Dana is bad you sympathise with her and feel compassion. She is just trying to fit into a world that is sometimes horrible and not what you would wish it to be.

If you're looking for a 'can't put down read' then I would definitely recommend this. Thoroughly enjoyable reading on each page.

5.0 out of 5 stars There is none so blind...... 18 Feb 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I loved this book. I reminded me of my own sad past and how my situation was almost similar to Dana.
I wish there had been something like this for me to read 35 years ago.
It bought a lot home to me and how my life was messed up because I took control and not God.
Thankfully He is now back in charge.

I found the American school system a bit strange (how everyone just got up out of school and went for rides the mall) and the tittle tattle attitudes of the people a bit off, but that could be what its like these days.
It was still an eye opener of a book and It should be made a mandatory read for all teenage Christians.

Quite an interesting book which I enjoyed reading - but just a little bit preachy! However, I may read more by the same author.

"Sometimes God has to do something drastic to get our attention. Sometimes he takes what we treasure the most away from us, something we trust in. So that we can learn to put our trust in him."

3.0 out of 5 stars Prodigal 6 Jan 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Not a bad read but more for young Christians I think as it is mostly about their behaviour. As a 60+ Christian it really wasn't for me though I did finish it as I needed to see the end result.

3.0 out of 5 stars A long way home! 27 Dec 2012

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was, I feel, a book for young people and I found it tedious. I should have been 'flagged up' as a book for young people.
