From Amazon.co.uk

Procol Harum: Live at the Union Chapel is a record of the final performance of the band's 2003 world tour, taped on December 12 before a small London crowd. The venue was an inspired choice. As a performance space, the Gothic church is at once both intimate and grand, a perfect mirror for the band's odd but cogent mix of bar-band boogie and classically tinged prog rock. The 22-song concert includes eight selections from The Well's on Fire, Procol Harum's 2003 studio album. Most of the newer songs are strong (particularly "The Question" and "An Old English Dream"), and the band, having honed its arrangements to a T, does an exceptional job of blending its recent music with its older material. Singer-pianist Gary Brooker and organist Matthew Fisher, both original members, lead the way through time-honored favorites like "Homburg", "Conquistador" and their immortal 1967 hit "A Whiter Shade of Pale".

The DVD's spacious but never murky 5.1 surround mix puts you right in the church with the audience. As usual, the DTS tracks surpass the Dolby Digital soundtrack, but with this disc the DTS format proves especially critical to an appreciation of the Union Chapel's gorgeous acoustics. ----Michael Mikesell

5.0 out of 5 stars tripping the light fandango 28 Oct 2004
Format:DVD
i was lucky enough to attend this concert myself in december 2003
the dvd captures the atmosphere and ambience of that night perfectly, procol played a mixture of older classics and newer material, as for the dvd the sound quality and imagery is perfect, and watching this is almost like being there, the only weakness is the comments from the bar section of the dvd, i would have thought that some rehearsal footage or a interview with each band member would have filled this space better. 5 stars is deserved because the quality of the concert, the performance camera work and sound make bettering this almost impossible. we are now in a period where a concert usually contains, 500 lights a firework display backing singers and backing tapes, its a refreshing change to see a quality band entertaining the audience without any artificial additives

I bought this PAL DVD to send to someone in the UK, and to confirm that this is the package with the bonus CD - 11 audio tracks from the concert, with excellent sound quality and editing out of the audience noise.

This is one magnificent concert, wherein drummer Mark Brzezicki and guitarist Geoff Whitehorn, after more than 10 years with the group, (in my opinion) finally learned to do justice to Procol Harum's music. The musicianship throughout is outstanding, especially the interaction between Whitehorn and PH founding member, Hammond organist Matthew Fisher. The camera work is excellent, as befits the beautiful setting of the Union Chapel. The sound engineering is a revelation, and when played loud through a good sound system, this package (DVD and CD) comes very close to matching the HUGE Dynamic Procol Harum Live sound from its Classic period, something that none of the studio albums or previous concert recordings has ever achieved.

The classic tunes sound fantastic - this is my favorite rendition of "Conquistador" anywhere - and the songs from The Well's On Fire, their 2003 CD, have been incredibly improved, so much more ALIVE!, than on that album. Standouts are "An Old English Dream," "The Question" and especially "The Signature", the exciting Fisher-composed instrumental.

Though the Bonus CD is an excerpt of the entire concert, and I would have made a couple of substitutions, all the best tunes are there. I'm glad the CD has been made available because I'm planning on sending one to my local Classic Rock radio station and requesting some well-deserved airplay for "The Signature."

5.0 out of 5 stars procol harum scare um 24 Dec 2007
Format:DVD
This band has stood the test of time, the vocals are still as good as the original sound but the musicianship is even better than the original. The mix of old songs and new met to give a very pleasurable experience, the sound quality and production were also first class. Top act can't wait to see them live if they do the rounds again.
