Product Description

Will Brown and John Smith are friends. Ordinary men with ordinary names...except when you consider that where John comes from his means 'one who yearns for the sweetest cessric pond, even before the third milking of Teuhleuhlah's teat'. For John is from the planet Tau Ceti 42, and first met Will when abducting him from Earth one morning...The Tau-Cetians are an alien race utterly hooked on the classic Earth TV series, "I Love Lucy", and an enterprising group have got together to fund a trip to Earth to try to buy the first series episodes on holo-chip. Whilst on their travels, they are also collecting items for their specimen zoo. Will is targeted as the human specimen, but John grows to like Will's incessant wit and decides to let him go, although not before some racy adventures and experiences along the way...including the customary alien probe on entering the spaceship...

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast paced, entertaining and very, very funny, 1 Jun 2006

This review is from: I Was Probed by Aliens and Lived to Tell the Tale (Paperback)
The book's title suggests an autobiographical piece of a somewhat sombre nature but the moment you see the cover you know just what to expect inside.
With `I Was Probed By Aliens And Lived To Tell The Tale' Barry J. House has firmly put the fun back into space adventure with a host of comic situations concocted to elicit the full gamut of humanoid mirth responses, from barely suppressed giggles to gales of uncontrollable laughter.
I read a good part of this tale while travelling to and from work on the train and I got some pretty weird looks, I can tell you. But such is the power of this book - with its bizarre locations, amusingly crude language and unlikely gadgets - that I didn't really care.
Just one tip: Keep off the mulled Krishlacs while reading this!

2.0 out of 5 stars Probed till I cried!!!!!!!!!!!, 18 Jun 2006
This review is from: I Was Probed by Aliens and Lived to Tell the Tale (Paperback)
"I WAS PROBED BY ALIENS AND LIVED TO TELL THE TALE!"

Before any of you nutters attempt to buy and read this book I must warn you; it's not a real life account (if it is we should all start worrying) of abduction. If you set out thinking COMMUNION then you will be suprised.

What you do get is a laugh riot of an adventure as told by William Brown, Will to his friends or Brown Willy to those who don't like him.

Abducted on his way to work by the Alien, John Smith, he is probed, but this is just the start of their journey.

Every page contains at least one chuckle and makes for a most enjoyable read. I would love to list some of the jokes, but then I'd probably sit here and type out the full novella in my giddy excitement.

Think 2001 crossed with Men Behaving Badly crossed with This Island Earth and you will almost be in the right mindset to pick up PROBED.

5.0 out of 5 stars On a different planet!, 27 Sep 2006

It seems rare these days that a book can poke fun at it self, this book manages this with an entertaining story line that takes you far away from our mundane, hum drum lives.

Whether you want a short read or looking for a pick me up with some "in your face" humour, then this book fits the bill, Ideal I would think for a train trip or travelling when life can get boring.

As it is Sci Fi humour I think it would particularly suit students whom want to escape their pressures of study with a light and entertaining read to relax the mind and raise a few chuckles.
