If it helps to clarify, 40cms in total. The handle is more like a small stand and is only 1cm wider at each side than the stone itself.

I wouldnt like to say I had a bad experience with this stone, the first time I used it it cracked and split into 3 pieces in the oven

Are you sprinkling (dusting) the stone with flour or semolina? You will need to, especially with raw dough.

I would not see why not providing you let the flame die down, I use it in the oven at 250c for at least 1 hour before cooking so they can take the heat. I would put the lid down on the BBQ though to crisp the top
