Ready to safely guard even the largest of gateaux thanks to its straight sides or to accommodate a selection of tempting cheeses stored at room temperature. Hand wash with care.

I purchased this item within the last few months and oiled the wooden base as instructed and it has now warped such that it rocks
on a flat surface and the dome no longer fits. I have had experience of wooden items that need oiling before and if I had known
I would not have purchased this dome. Fortunately we kept the wooden base of our old dome (different supplier) and the new one fits perfectly and this base is about six years old.

This is an excellent quality item. The beech base is well finished and solid, the glass dome is a very good size and thickness so no worries about chipping it while washing, it feels very sturdy. I wanted one to display home-baked items on antique cake plates and was a little apprehensive about size as the dome diameter in the product information was not clear.
However at approximately 10.75" there is plenty of room for a plate as well as the items and with tall straight sides will easily take a triple layer cake. The only reason I haven't given this 5 stars is the cakes appear somewhat distorted through the dome but I wonder if this is because the glass is hand-blown? All in all, I have to say I am very pleased with this item. Service was excellent, ordered on Friday, delivered on Tuesday packed very securely with highly visible FRAGILE tape all round. Looks much more stylish on my worktop than the old ice cream tub I used to have!
