I've wanted Le Creuset cookware, specifically a casserole dish, for a long time but just didn't want to pay the extortionate prices. This is indeed a very good substitute - good looking, the black is very classy, I've used it a few times now on the hob, then going straight into the oven - worked perfectly well, made lovely casseroles that got me compliments, and cleans quite easily.
If I have one slight negative comment, it is that the lid doesn't seem to 'click' into place as you would expect most casserole dish lids to do, instead it just 'sits' on the dish, so it doesn't seal 100% - but it doesn't seem to affect the performance.
A good looking buy, at a great price. Recommended.

why buy a more expensive branded dish, this is well made! and is exactly the same cast iron.

I bought this pot for my daughter and it has proved to be invaluable. It is very much on the same level as the Le Creuset pot I use and it is fantastic value for money. This pot will last for years.
