It is always nice to read a book written by someone who knows what they are talking about. In `Problogger Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income', Darren Rowse and Chris Garrett have proven that they are the benchmark when it comes to advice on how to write a blog that might be worth creating revenue from.

The book has been collated from their successful blog, and is structured in easy, well written stages that allows the reader to fully understand the point that the authors are trying to make. Admittedly this is the first book I have read on the subject of blog writing, but if there are any subsequent ones, then they will have to be at least equal in breadth and depth of knowledge.

Blogging for money has only recently taken off, and it only made possible by the universal access that the internet provides. By levelling the playing field a single author in a far off place can have the same impact as a team of experienced writers. The book that Darren and Chris have written is one of the reasons that this is possible, giving valuable advice on all aspects of developing a blog for the purposes of money generation.

A six figure income is one to aspire to, and it has to be admitted that only a lucky few will achieve these heights. For most of us the book acknowledges, any revenue will supplement rather than replace existing incomes but the principles involved in creating a blog such as this are the same.

From Day Zero with only an idea in your head, and a laptop to connect with the world, this book will show you how to blog effectively and build up an audience that will enhance your reputation. This book is essential if you are going to achieve your blogging objectives.

I bought this book after reading the other reviews - and was mindful that I am a relative novice (so the comments that it is not the best choice for more experienced bloggers or techies may hold good).

I found it well written and with lots of practical examples and useful links. I don't know if the authors' claims to make a six figure income are exaggerated, but they do put this very much in perspective...making it clear that it is not a get-rich-quick scheme...so I felt their own experiences to be genuinely relaid.

As someone who is simply interested in getting a handle on how a site can be monetarised, I found this a really helpful introduction that cut through all the tons of conflicting information I had been grappling with.

It was easy to read (digested in a couple of days) and within a matter of days I was able to put together a self-hosted blog and add adsense to it...so I'd say it was definitely what I needed to make me that one step further, but it would also be useful to absolute beginners.

An excellent introductory text to the subject, as a recent novice in the field - I started blogging about 6 weeks ago - I found it extremely helpful. I'm sure it will improve my approach to blogging, and will allow me to avoid too many more rookie mistakes, some of which I've undoubtedly made. I haven't finished the text yet, but if it continues in the same vein - I'm about half way through - I'd have to say it is a winner. I found some of the advice in the first chapter or so rather obvious, but they may be with my admittedly recently acquired experience/hindsight. I certainly I had read this before getting started!

ProBlogger: Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income provided a unique experience for me as a book. I bought the book a good few weeks ago and expected to finish it within a week. I announced on Twitter that I was looking forward to the book and warmed when one of the authors Chris Garrett sent a tweet 'hope you like it'. So beyond this book I can vouch for the fact that Chris definately practices what he preaches. It took me at least 4 weeks to complete to give myself time to implement what I learnt.

The book itself offers practical insights from a couple of bloggers who have been there and got the t-shirt every step of the way. From researching your blog, competitors, driving traffic, building a loyal audience, monetising your blog... this book has it all. It is also jam packed with case studies, practical tools and definately keeps your expectations real. A definate must read if you are setting up a blog, or have an established blog and would like to monetise your blog.

So I just finished Problogger Secrets For Blogging Your Way To A Six Figure Income written by Darren Rowse and Chris Garrett, both very successful professional bloggers in their own right. I really enjoyed the book in its entirety, there wasn’t a chapter I didn’t find useful. And I must admit that the book was very well written. It not only kept me engaged and wanting to learn more, but it also managed to build my enthusiasm and excitement to become a blogger.

What I really appreciated from the authors is their sense of reality, they stated from the beginning that they do not intend to romantize blogging but rather give a reality check to the reader. And they succeeded in doing just that. After completing the book I am aware of the hard work, determination and energy it will take to set up a blog and that the success thereof is dependent on a number of factors.

I would recommend this book for any prospective (or existing) blogger, whether you want to do it just for fun or as a possible career. The book not only serves as a great introduction to the novice just starting out, but also has wonderful tools and tips for the already experienced blogger who wants to take their blog to the next level.
