"Private Luau," set in picturesque Hawaii, tells the story of Raquel, an image consultant, and Keanu, a former NBA player with major image issues.
In somewhat predictable fashion, Keanu is attracted to Raquel and wants to mix business with pleasure. Raquel, familiar with his womanizing and the reputation of men in the league, tries to keep things strictly professional. Encouraged by friends and family, especially her mother who wants grandbabies as of yesterday, Raquel lets her hair down and explores the attraction. Meanwhile, Keanu sets out to show her that he has changed and that their relationship mimics no other in his past.
Raquel's insecurity in the relationship is sometimes annoying yet understandable given Keanu's background. The two definitely have sexual chemistry and burn through some pages of the book. However, the book drags on a bit as Raquel and Keanu work on their relationship outside of the bedroom.
The book is a decent read. It was definitely made more attractive by the low price.
