This is a very slim volume.. 95 pages in all, and rather pricey.. so my first impressions were not favourable.. but I realise it's the content that matters as I was about to discover.

I received the book this morning and have been dipping into it thoughout the day, and have just finished reading it. If I could, I would have read it in one session..

It is written in a very matter of fact way , without any embellishment or any sense of betrayal of confidences. It is simply a brief record of some of the times the author and Michael spent together.. sometimes alone, sometimes with their respective families, and the mutual enjoyment their friendship brought.

To me it is successful because it doesn't go into great detail and doesn't need to , but it effortlessly gets the message across that Michael Jackson was a kind and decent man..( somewhat different from the cariacture as portrayed by an out of control media)

I think true MJ fans would like this book, and once read completely,to dip into from time to time. If you want a kiss and tell, or to read gossip then this is not the book for you.

To me it is a little gem and it's success lies in it's simplicity. I get the impression that the author just wanted to tell us about this special friendship so that we could share a little bit of it too. ( For once I don't believe money was the motive ).

Hi Barney... I just wanted to add a little bit to this review ( Amazon will not let me add a comment to my own review)

I just want to say I am so pleased that you wrote this book for us, and I'm sure at the time you had no idea of the impact it would have.

I'm always a bit leery of books written about Michael Jackson that are self-published. Usually it means sub-par content, little of which is factual in any way. This time, however, I was very pleasantly surprised; one gets the impression that the book was independently published to retain complete control of the contents, even if it meant a much smaller paycheck. I'm sure the author could have had the book published by a publisher had he chosen to do so.

As nearly all self-published books, this one has its fair share of typos and awkward grammatical structures, but no matter. The contents are worth it for sure. This is as close as you'll ever get to visiting Michael in Neverland (unless you did so yourself, you lucky thing). Despite the detailed recounts of the conversations that took place between the author and MJ, the book does not feel like a breach of trust. Any specific things mentioned might have been said in a public arena. Kudos to the author for his good judgment in this regard!

The book might not be of much interest to people who are mainly interested in Michael Jackson the megastar. There are few references to his work and all that goes with it. This book is about Michael Jackson the person. If you, like me, prefer the person to the personality, this makes for lovely reading.

I was uncertain as to what I would expect from this book but delighted to find this book an absolute treasure. Well put together and interesting with an art of capturing your attention at every page.

I was unable to put this down and completed this book within a couple of days.

This is a wonderful and unique book about the real person that was Michael Jackson. It contains a series of snapshots showing what a warm and affectionate friendship the author, Doctor Barney enjoyed with Michael. I feel his main motivation for writing this is to help to set the record straight and show what a normal and loving man he really was, beyond the lies and scandals. It was often said that Michael made friends with children which is true, but here we get to see what a normal adult friendship he had with Barney. Although the conversations were private between the two men and sometimes their families, it never feels too revealing or in any way sensational. Barney's wife, Criss describes Michael in one word: "opulent" and that she would have been smitten with him, even if he'd not been famous.

You will find gentle and endearing anecdotes about this loving friend and father, including how he and the doctor first met, raiding the fridge at 3 a.m, his humble attitude to his incredible fame, trick or treating in disguise, advising Donny Osmond to toughen up his image, frequent trips to their favourite antique centre and many more! If you love Michael at the start of this book, you will be even more enchanted. For anyone still not convinced about him, this will charm you like no other book! I believe it must be added to the collection of any Michael Jackson fan or admirer, as it gives a unique and charming glimpse into the life of this complex and thoughtful man, so misunderstood. It is a real privilege to listen in on these chats...I love this book!
