Made by Grundy, Prisoner was the first Australian show to tackle issues such as rape, homosexuality, murder and violence. This DVD encompasses episodes 33-64 of this iconic show. This release was really well done, Picture and sound quality are flawless, DVD authoring is excellent, 4 episodes per disc avoids the need for excessive compression and retains the excellent quality of the source material.
as for the quality of the show, i loved volume 1 and volume 2 seems even more surefooted, the characters are even more well rounded than before.
it looks like they're going to release one of these sets every year, in which case i can't wait for 2010!
whatever format prisoner was shot on has aged amazingly, 30 years on it now looks better than many mid/early 90's tv shows (EG: a touch of frost) which now look quite grainy

I love "Prisoner Cell Block H" but what I cannot understand is why "Fremantle Home Entertainment" will not release the full set of volumes like they have done in the US and Australia, there are millions of people who love "Prisoner Cell Block H" within the UK as well as Europe.
I will be buying the full set if or when its fully released I have Volume 1 allready and cannot wait for Volume 2,3,4 etc.

Prisoner, as it was called in Australia, or Prisoner Cell Block H (Britain & rest of world) was ground-breaking in it's time. As far as I'm aware it was the first Soap to deal with homosexuality, drugs, murder and domestic violence. The characters became much-loved institutions in their own right and this release is a great way to build up one's collection in a quality packaging at a much cheaper cost than the previous DVD releases.

Lovely rewatching the old programmes.
Prisoner cell block H is really good. Now on box 8 and this is a must for anyone who is a prisoner cell block fan.

purely fantastic
best tv show ever,carnt wait to get next volume but the down ful is the box sets are slow in coming out meaning to get to each volume u would ave to watch only 1ep a week .
