Born in Halifax, brought up in South Wales, one of seven multi racial children adopted by an orthopaedic surgeon and his Classics graduate wife.
Trained as a registered nurse in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. Moved to Staffordshire in the 1970s, had an antiques business for a while and two sons. (Now have two grandsons!) I started writing in the 1980s in response to an aunt asking me what I was going to do with my life! Winding up the Serpent was my first Joanna Piercy story, a series which I am continuing with as well as my medical standalones and the Martha Gunn, Shrewsbury coroner, series. Currently I work as a respiratory nurse in the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, and have just had the new Martha Gunn story accepted by Severn House, due for publication in July 2012. Titled Smoke Alarm! It is based around real events and deals with a fire in the locked ward of a mental hospital with resultant loss of life. Am now working on the new Joanna Piercy, working title, The Final Curtain, which I hope to have finished by the summer and maybe released in time for Xmas 2012. Look out too for news of my backlist coming out as ebooks.Danse Macabre, a story set in Newport Shropshire, about a cross dresser will hopefully be published by Severn House maybe next year or the year after.
Thanks to all my fans!
