5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Readable, 18 Mar 2005
By Clare. (London) - See all my reviews
I found this book extremely readable. It deals with complex issues, but explains and explores them in a way which brings them to life. I have had to read similar texts on other courses I have done, but this was the first time I have understood the relevance of people like Marx and Weber to the understanding of work and organizations in this century.

The range of perpectives also works well, from the individual, group through to the broader sociological perspective. It is also politically fairly even handed in the way it balances these perspectives.

What I particularly liked about this book is that it treats the reader with respect and does not insult our intelligence with cartoons etc in the way some of the textbooks I have read in this subject area do.

I liked the think about it sections. Which actually did get me to think about things and helped expand the relevance of what I had just read.It has helped a lot to have one book to refer to.
