In this slim volume the health practitioner, or the concerned lay person can find everything they need to know about this ancient healthcare practice to proceed safely and respnsibly.
The convincing factor for myself, as a practising osteopath was the information that after a controlled fast the bodies production of human growth factor was increased. ie the bodies own healing response was stimulated. For anybody with a persistent or slow healing situation this must be of interest.
If I were to fault the level of information, which is dificult as it is so clearly written, I would want to add in some discussion of contra-indications for use as well as postive case studies.
My concern would be are there conditions in which fasting was contra-indicated, or where some informed consent was crucial or advisable. In particular in an age of eating disorders we would need to have very good screening tools, and counselling in place if clients were considering this technique, or at least mechanisms for case-discussions with other health professionls. But for the responsible concerned adult with no history of eating disorders who were there own health needs and ways of supporting healthy body tissues this book has a host of information to difuse negative myths about fasting and to proceed safely with this method of cleansing.
