Review

"Very student friendly text. Makes economics easy to understand. Some of the other texts would take a lot of reading to explain an idea."

1.0 out of 5 stars Mankiw will make you hate economics with a passion! Guaranteed. 21 Aug 2014
By macfresh - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
I took Micro and Macroeconomics and both classes required this textbook, unfortunately. Mankiw's textbook is boring, dry and unengaging. I couldn't stand the textbook, no matter how much I tried to fool myself into liking it because I need it for my econ classes. Nonetheless, I fell behind in both courses because I couldn't get myself to read the textbook for more than 2 minutes. It's that dull, and I ended up hating economics and dropping both courses. That was two semesters ago. Fast forward to today: I am retaking the econ class (because I need it for my major) with a different instructor who requires a different econ textbook, which isn't a Mankiw book. Night and day difference. I'm actually enjoying this semester's econ and will successfully complete the course.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Electronic version 31 May 2014
By Lasindy - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
This is the text for my beginning Micro course (201). It has been the highlight of the course. I am using an electronic version which includes a brief introduction to the material at the onset of each chapter by Dr Mankiw, as well as multiple multimedia aids throughout each chapter brief lectures, graphing demonstrations, and exceptional stick person drawings. Terrific explanations and examples, have to say so much easier to understand than the actual lectures for my class. I think I would be lost without this book.
