This book has three really great stories in it and is a favorite for a bedtime story with both my 6 year old boy and 4 year old girl. I like reading the stories as well, I think they are well told and are good stories to seep into the minds of youngsters.
The writing style is spare and evocative, almost every line is striking. I don't know who translated these into English for Cornelia Funke, or if she did it herself (her first language is German), but I think these are miles better than her young adult fiction which can be clunky sometimes.
Anyway, timeless stories about love and bravery, good for any girl or boy.

The book titles all relate to my grandchildren I have a princess and want to be pirate granddaughter and they have a wild little brother. They have all enjoyed this book it has become part of their bed time routine.

We like this book. It has very cute twists in it. It affirms that girls are equal to boys in their ability to accomplish things.
I ordered one for my granddaughter and now this current one is for a grand niece.
