From the Publisher

Princess Diana- The Day She Didn't Die is a world first. The first novel of it's kind to look at Diana's future rather than her past. The author carries the storyline superbly well in both present tense and third person. Already expected to be a best seller, Princess Diana- The Day She Didn't Die certainly exceeds readers expectations.

Where were you on 31 August 1997? Like 9/11, most people remember what they were doing the day Princess Diana was killed. But what if she had survived!

Type `Princess Diana death' into Google and you will get over 22 million results; such is the keen worldwide interest in her life and its tragic end. The Author, Heath Samples, will surely hope that this translates into book sales with his innovative storyline that encapsulates forbidden love; political intrigue, religious intolerance and a JFK style assassination conspiracy thrown in for good measure.

This is Samples first novel and he wouldn't seem out of place within its pages with his Royal Air Force, scuba diving, pilot and Guinness World Record holder background - effectively completing a James Bond persona. However, he is easier to track down with his Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin accounts. International criminals seeking world domination, please take note.

The story starts when Princess Diana and Dodi Al Fayed survive the 1997 car crash in Paris. Despite their suspicions that it was a deliberate attempt on their lives, they play it down to the press and their families. However, they are dramatically affected by the incident as it places a considerable strain on their life; fearful and waiting for the next potential assassination attempt.

Under the intrusive scrutiny of the world press, compounded by concerns raised about Diana's conduct by Prince Charles, we see her relationship with Dodi unfold. The book provides an insight into the Muslim faith and its similarities and conflicts with Christianity. This is a key issue as Diana (the mother of the future king of England and Supreme Governor of the Church on England) is considering converting to Islam with a potential constitutional crisis in the making.

Sample intertwines this drama with another story about a student called Ella, who is an obsessed Diana fan. Ella's life mirrors Diana as she explores Islam and gains a Muslim boyfriend. Thus emphasising the influence Diana had over many people in terms of her values and beliefs - something that is easy to forget nearly 15 years later.

I did feel that the author was a little in awe of Diana and was reluctant to tarnish the `Saint Diana' halo that many people seem to hold so dear. Some chapters also contained too much detail about her personality, considering we were talking about one of the most iconic and familiar figures of the 20th century.

There are a number of loose ends, but perhaps this is a deliberate ploy with a sequel being planned. There is also considerable scope to translate this book into a Hollywood or US TV network movie. One thing is sure; it would be a considerable improvement on the recent William and Kate movie that was panned by many critics earlier in 2011.

Princess Diana - The Day she didn't die is a novel written by Heath Samples with Claire Hooper.

If Princess Diana hadn't of died that fateful August night in 1997 and in fact walked away from the crash in the tunnel imagine what her life could have been like. This story explores just what Diana's life could have been like!

What would have become of her relationship with Dodi, Did she realise that someone had tried to kill her? Would she find the happiness she so searched?

When I was asked to read this novel I jumped at the chance as I was a huge fan of Princess Diana and used to love watching her on the TV or reading about her in the magazines etc. Was our interest in her part of the reason she is not here now. That we will never know.

I didn't read this expecting any answers etc, that is not what it is about - it is a novel and Heath and Claire makes that very clear. Heath and Claire has written a great story, and of course it is only a story as clearly none of the events they has written about could ever happen. The book is very easy to get into and that I put down to the fact that we all `knew' the subject leads so well. Any of the things that happen within the book could so easily happen and therefore really believable.

As a side to the story Heath also has included chapters about a 19-year-old girl, Ella who is a huge fan of Diana and it would seems tries to explore the same paths that Diana is treading. To be honest, I personally didn't think this part was needed. I think the huge amount of emotion around Diana and all content that Heath and Claire were writing about with Diana and Dodi etc was gripping enough to keep the reader turning the pages (or clicking the next button due to it being an ebook!) Other may disagree with me and enjoy these sections very much, that's just personal taste.

I really did enjoy the story and wonder if there will be additional stories to follow. I was hoping for a happy ending fit for a Princess - did I find it within these pages? You'll have to read it to find out!

Thank you so much to Heath Samples and Kim Nash for bring this book to my attention and sending me a copy. I wish you lots of success with it.

Curiosity led me to this book & kept me reading until the end. Many times throughout the book I could picture Diana & her characteristics & mannerisms easily, Dodi not so as he was relatively unknown to me. I like the inclusion of Ella in the story as I'm sure there were thousands of young girls who empathised with & wanted to emulate Diana in her time, it gave the book another dimension.Whilst reading, I wondered how the book would end & suffice to say it tied in well with the story. This book is clearly a work of fiction but by using the words "what & if" side by side & letting your imagination take over this book was written, sadly we shall never truly know

I thought it was OK but it made me feel awkward and uncomfortable reading it. I didnt like her portrayal almost morose for most of the time and sullen. Not an enjoyable read.
