I have just finished rereading all Susan Kinard's books that I have ( I have them all ) and this is one of the best. It contains great love, mystery, murder and fantastic insight into the lives of Wolves. I also liked the inclusion of the Ojibway Indians and their beliefs. In other words if you like your romance written by an author who will give you great romance plus some new things to think about then this is the book for you. Also don't forget the rest of her books. I have yet to read a bad one and have just ordered her new one "Secret of the Wolf". I can hardly wait!

This was a beautiful and tender love story between a werewolf and a wolf researcher. Unlike other werewolf novels currently on the market, Prince of Shadows plays down the gorier and darker aspects of such supernatural creatures and surprises us with a very human hero who just happens to have certain special abilities. The love story and the supernatural subplot complemented eachother well. My only real dissatisfaction was with the cover; a beefcake depiction of Kieran posing with his shirt shrugged off, looking for all the world like a chippendale thug. I was embarrassed to be seen with it. Krinard lived up to my expectations created from her first werewolf novel, Prince of Wolves -- I wonder if she plans on making this a trilogy? I think her fans would love to explore the hidden village of Valle Cache a bit further.

Eminently readable and filled with mystery and romance. As with all good stories, the hero is handsome and strong; however, this hero has a wolfish side to him, which adds some spice to the standard romance recipe. It works well with the heroine, who is a wolf researcher. Coincidence? No, and that's what makes it interesting.
