Though many bands have succeeded in earning the hatred of parents and media worldwide throughout the past few decades, arguably only such acts as Alice Cooper, Judas Priest, and Marilyn Manson have tied the controversial record of Ozzy Osbourne. The former Black Sabbath frontman has been highly criticized over his career, mostly due to rumors denouncing him as a ... Read more in Amazon's Ozzy Osbourne Store

This box set is Just awesome,Ozzy osbourne is my Favorite Artist, have been a fan for a a good few years now,and NO ozzy fan should be with out this box set.
The Live Tracks on this set just show you what a fantasic live performer Ozzy is, The Demos offer a great insight to they way the songs progress from demo to the Finished product,Some of the Demos wouldnt be out of place as finished album tracks,The Oddities and Duets disc is Just excellent,Nice to finally hear a Finished and remixed version of Stayin alive.
And the Under covers disc! Just wonderful some fantastic versions of songs here, Ozzys take on all these songs are Awsome and he makes them his own. this has been well worth the Wait, Best Collection of songs/Album to be released this Year No Doubt!

If you wouldn't consider yourself a regular listener of the music of Ozzy Osbourne, and are looking for just the one compilation then you should avoid this set and purchase the single The OZZman Cometh CD instead. The reason why I say this is that this box set doesn't include many of Ozzy's solo hits in their regular form, and you might then be disappointed if you bought it.

If you are already familiar with Ozzy's music and own some (or all) of his studio albums than the 'Prince Of Darkness' four CD collection is an absolute must for your collection, and worth every penny.

Disc one consists of eight standard/familiar recordings that were released on albums and singles, including the forever popular 'Mr Crowley' and 'Crazy Train', and five live recordings mixed in.

Disc two focuses on more live tracks and rare demo recordings of classic songs like 'Mama I'm Coming Home' and 'Won't Be Coming Home (SIN)', the latter being in my opinion better than the version which made the final cut on the 'Ozzmosis' album. The demos are particularly interesting, and it's great to hear how the songs were formed and differ from the known versions.

Disc three has all of the varied and interesting duets that Ozzy has recorded with others over the years. He has worked with a variety of artists including Motorhead on the song 'I Ain't No Nice Guy', inevitably Black Sabbath, and even Miss Piggy in a priceless cover of 'Born To Be Wild'. Some of the duets are hit and miss, but there are enough gems here to make it a worthwhile disc.

Disc four was the set's real selling point, consisting of brand new material from Ozzy.

Ozzy Osbourne is a heavy metal legend, and this box set simply cements his place in music history, when an artist releases their box set its a sign that they are simply great. For any Ozzy Osbourne fan and thats Ozzy Osbourne not a fan of MTV's 'The Osbournes', Go out and Buy this Box set - my tip of the day is to buy it on amazon as its £3.00 dearer in shops. This is a must for all ozzy fans. My personal favourite song on the entire collection would be the recently covered, In My Life, this is simply Raw Ozzy Osbourne, and no surprise its a beatles song lol ... But on a serious note if you can appreciate the musical expertise of Ozzy Osbourne, you'll appreciate this Collection of pure genious.

I was first introduced to John Michael Osbourne at the tender age of 14 by my friends. I remember rushing out to buy Diary of a Madman in Christmas 1982. Since then I have been a lifelong fan, snapping up all of his Solo albums and Black Sabbath recordings along the way.
What makes Ozzy so unique is his rare ability of crafting his work around his fan base, which makes him a hit to old and new fans alike, his limited vocal range delivers such punch and power that the live tracks demostrate. If you are new to Ozzy Osbourne then buy Prince of Darkness as this compilation is a great starting point and an introduction. If you are an old die hard (like me) then still buy it as it has many demo's, outakes and live tracks that arn't available anywhere else and I bet this is bound to keep any fan happy.
Highly recommended.

Great set of CDs lots of classic Ozzy tracks old and new. Some stuff I've never heard such as Ozzy and miss piggy doing born to be wild!
A must for any Ozzy/Sabbath fan. Comes with little booklet with some great pics. Recommended!
