I was looking for a Bumbo chair for my daughter, because at 4 months old, she wants to sit up and look around, but doesn't have the muscle control to do it in most seats. I had read that a Bumbo chair allows babies with neck control (but no waist control yet) to sit up right. Still, I was a bit shocked when I searched for one online, to see how much everyone was charging, and then I had to buy the tray separately! The reviews were also mixed, with many people saying the chair was so small that it only fit regular-sized babies for a month or two, anyway. So I decided not to waste my money.
Then, my One Step Ahead catalog came in the mail, and while flipping through it, I saw the BebePOD. It was about $10 cheaper than the Bumbo chair when on sale (as it is while I'm writing this), so I decided to go online and see how it rated. The reviews I read on onestepahead.com were positive, so I decided to go ahead and get it. And we love it!
It is larger than a Bumbo chair and so your child can use it for a longer period of time. Our daughter wears cloth diapers, and there is plenty of room for the extra bulk. You can strap the baby into the chair for extra security, and so the legs are not as tight as a Bumbo chair, and you can then strap the chair onto another chair and use it as a booster seat (unlike the BC). Our daughter can sit at the dinner table with us, or go outside to watch her big brother play. Plus, I bought mine from onestepahead.com, and it came with the tray and a toy that is age appropriate for about a 4-5 month old baby (not sure if that's true here on amazon or if you have to buy it separately). It's extremely easy to clean, light-weight, and supportive, and I imagine we'll be using it for a while to come, even if it's just as a booster seat after she gains enough body control to sit up on the floor by herself. I'm very, very pleased, and would recommend it to anyone.
