I bought this item to protect my one year old grand-daughter from mosquito bites during our holiday.

We used it consistantly, kept it switched on and either clipped to her buggy or cot, but she was still bitten quite a lot. From this experience, I would not recommend the item.

The US Federal Trade Commission has very different views from those advertised here:

The proposed consent agreement announced today for public comment prohibits the respondents from making false or unsubstantiated claims that any electronic mosquito repellant product using sonic or ultrasonic technology:

* Repels mosquitoes from a baby or any person;

* Is an effective alternative to chemical repellants; or

* Protects babies or other persons from contracting the West Nile virus.

This product does not stand up to scientific scrutiny. The sole use of this product to protect your baby will not reduce the chance of a mosquito bite. Use mosquito nets, drugs - as recomended by a healthcare professional, seek advice, and repellant creams / lotions / sprays.

Please note that scientists are extremely skeptical about this product, and have found no empirical evidence to back up the claims whatsoever. The comment regarding the frequency of dragonfly wings is pure fantasy and factually incorrect. Please see [...] for some interesting comments, and make up your own mind.

Why did I bother writing this? The best of human hearing actually goes up to around 20 Khz, around 5 KHz higher than this product, and our hearing is at its best when we are young. You could be doing absolutely nothing about mosquito bites, whilst irritating the hell out of your poor baby all day...

This is one of the best things I have found from the market. It is working extremely against mosquitoes and finally you can have a trouble less sleep at night. I actually tried few methods and ended up hating all of them. But fortunately I found it. It has no chemicals to do its job. So I am extremely relieved because I know my children are safer. While I bought this item, my brother bought Portable Ultrasonic Mosquito Repellent device - battery operated to keep his home free of mosquitoes. It is also working fine. Maybe a little more better too.

These things just don't work. I've spent half an hour looking for information and they don't repel mosquitoes. See for yourself:

To be honest this was a bit of a waste of money as it did not seem to have much effect. Looks cute though!
