very Russian and very melodious

If you are a Borodin fan, like myself, then this recording is a must for your collection. The orchestral playing is brilliant (and, of course, very Russian-sounding), and the vocalists are among the best that Russia has to offer. From beginning to end, this is a treat for the ears. I had no idea how much wonderful music there is in this opera. However, this is not Boris Godunov or Mazeppa! Prince Igor is much less tragic than most Russian operas, which is a trait that I appreciate.
