This product review started out with the greatest of intentions, but slowly reduces itself into the most pointless nonsensical drivel imaginable. For that, I sincerely apologise.

This product is good, but not great. Firstly, when using it, you never seem quite far enough away. This however may simply be my level of arachnophobia, and not the fault of the device, which granted, is a decent length. Even the next room at times feels too close. I have about a 50% success rate with this product. In my experience, it's all about where the spider is. If it is on a flat piece of wall, great, it works every time. If however it is at the meeting point of two walls, or worse, the corner up by the ceiling, it's considerably harder. When I have failed to catch the spider, it has almost always dropped straight to the ground, so keep this in mind and prepare for this eventuality with a fall back plan. On one occasion, I failed to grasp the little blighter properly and it somehow managed to begin crawling up the outside of the bristles toward me. Needless to say I suffered some form of black out/mild cardiac event, and when I came to the spider was nowhere to be seen.

Those worried about the strength of the bristles can rest easy. I have successfully caught one of the big boys (we'll call him Barry).

Barry was up in the very corner of the ceiling, so his size was actually an advantage on this occasion. As always I had a backup plan in case of failure - due to Barry's size, this was to sleep that night wrapped up in a mosquito net and put the house on the market the following morning. Whilst I realised that prospective buyers may be put off by having Barry as a housemate (who by that time would surely have got settled and claimed the master suite), I saw no other option.

I bought this in addition to the KATCHA BUG because I wanted two catchers and so, thought I would try a different prodct too.
Currently I find this one a little easier and effective to use. it literally grabs the bug, even the quick ones. There's no fiddling to get a box over the big...the bristles simply grab the bug.
I can see the catcher being also good for those bugs in corners of room, whereas with the KATCHA BUG , you have to wait until the bug moves onto a flat area.
This item is good.

This is a great item, it enables you to catch spiders and release them without harming them. Just place the opened brush over the arachnid, pull the trigger to close the brush, take it outside, depress the trigger which opens the brush and the little fellow is released - simple, effective, and so much better than searching around the house for something to remove them with. It can catch them from floors, ceilings and walls. I was a bit concerned that the spiders might be damaged but I've checked all mine on release and all have been fine with no damage to legs. It even comes with a plastic spider to practice with so you can become a master at it before use . . . . and I've no doubt that the plastic spider will also be used it to scare family and friends with! Thanks to everyone that has the compassion to remove these fascinating little creatures without harming them, after all, they're just trying to survive like all of us. This way everyone wins !

Does the job brilliantly. Just don't open it fully, or it will soon wear out the plastic mechanism. Otherwise perfect! Catches spiders humanely and easily! I think good value too. Had one before this that got a lot of use, I just opened it up too much every time I used it and the plastic handle started to get stuck open eventually after a couple of years use, so bought another.

This spider catcher certainly works, as long as you have the courage to get near enough to the spider, which shouldn't be a problem as the arm is quite long. Open a window first as you don't want to be faffing around with that while the spider is in it. I have even used this to catch flies in mid-air, which works but they sometimes fly out through the gaps at the top of the bristles. If you grab them in the end of the bristles off a window it works fine.

If like me you are not fond of spiders get one of these, long handle so doesn't heart the spider. And I feel more secure. It enables you to reach them from almost anywhere, and pop them out the window.
I also used mine ( I have several) to rescue butterflies and other insects eg bumble bees.
I would not cope with the 'Spider season' without it!!

My daughter had one of these when she lived with me,but when she left home so did the spider catcher!
Hence me purchasing this one.

Open window or door first before catching Sid...because,if you're like me,you'll want to dispose of him a.s.a.p !!
