Format:Audio CD
Fantastic! This soundtrack has been nominated for a BAFTA and rightly so. Captivating themes and rich orchestrations.

This is brilliant! Most of the music from the game Primal (PS2) is on it. I suggest if your a fan of the game, and you like the music, buy this album!

Brilliant!!! 27 Jan 2004
By Randal Shipway - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I've been a film score collector for over 25 years and love fantasy scores! If you're like me you'll find this score for the PS2 game just awesome! As good as any big David Arnold, John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith or James Horner score could ever be. Take the risk I did and buy it. You won't regret it it!!!

Better than the large majority of film scores 1 Dec 2004
By W. Scott Heitman - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I'm a big film score fan, but let's face it...most film scores, when all is said and done, have maybe 3-4 really good tracks. The rest is typically either jarring noise meant to fit a moment in the movie or over-development of the main theme. We often get 20 tracks on the same theme when 4-5 were tiring enough.

That's the beginning of where this soundtrack is truly brilliant. Imagine an album that took the best track off of 20 different soundtracks- you might get a soundtrack like this. Because of the varied "worlds" in which the game takes place, the soundtrack presents a number of different styles and themes. Each world has a main theme and a couple of sub-themes that are often just as good as the main theme. It is really difficult to point out any bad tracks. I read another review on this soundtrack elsewhere where a guy said that the weakest tracks were the ones from the 3rd world. I, on the other hand, thought the tracks from the 3rd world were some of the best. But, as I said above, the quality of all the tracks is so consistent and high that it is difficult to pick a loser. As other reviews have stated, you can definitely find your instruments of choice well-represented here- whether you like haunting vocals and choral work, the brass, or a quiet violin- you will find them all here. I never thought that I would tell people that a video game soundtrack had equaled my other 2 favorite scores, but here I am now. Don't miss picking this one up- there can't be that many copies floating around.

"large scale symphonic orchestral score ~ PRIMAL" 17 Jun 2003
By J. Lovins - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Silva America brings the score of a new game from Sony Entertainment "PRIMAL", taking the listener to new heights within the realm of demonic characters as we combat and explore the unknown. Composers Bob & Barn (Andrew Barnabas & Paul Arnold) gave the baton to Nic Raine, who orchestrated & conducted the City of Prague Philharmonic along with a magnificent chorus and concert Master Bohumil Kotmel. The haunting solos of soprano Michaela Srumore, the violin of Bohumil Kotmel, the alto flute of Pavel Becherovka and Jaraslava Eliasova on piano, celeste and harpsichord add even a more brilliant and breathtaking extravaganza in film music. One almost feels you're sitting in a Concert Hall or Large Theater watching a dark classical piece unfold with every musician, chorus and soloist taking you by the hand on a journey through mysterious and bold adventures that keeps you on the edge. Gothic themes "ARELLA'S THEME", with each counterpart as the chorus blends their voices drifting into the universe ~ "RAUM & EMPUSA", gives the orchestra a work out, chorus seems bent challenging every section in the Philharmonic, brass and chorus join weaving a spell over the listener that is majestic.

Hats off to James Fitzpatrick, Reynold da Silva, Bob & Barn for putting together this project for all the "film-score-buff" fans. This is much better than I expected ~ it will proudly sit on my collectible film score section in entertainment surround sound room, gotta love it!

Total Time: 61:32 on 20 Tracks ~ Silva America 1152 ~ (6/10/2003)
