Book Description

15 July 2010 Primal Blueprint Series
The popularity of the low carb/paleo/Primal way of eating has exploded, as people discover an appealing and sustainable alternative to the restrictive diets and flawed conventional wisdom that lead to burnout and failed weight loss efforts. The dream of eating satisfying meals-even on a budget-controlling weight and feeling great has now become a reality. As you build momentum for Primal eating, you'll find that you won't even miss the bland, boring, low-fat foods that previously were the central focus of your diet. How can you argue with a menu that includes Roasted Leg of Lamb with Herbs and Garlic, Salmon Chowder with Coconut Milk, Tomatoes Stuffed with Ground Bison and Eggs, and Baked Chocolate Custard? This isn't a crash course diet. These and the other Primal recipes provide the foundation for a lifetime of delicious, healthy eating, high energy and protection from common health problems that arise from eating SAD (Standard American Diet).

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Low Carb Cookbook 6 Oct 2010
Trying to follow Dr Bernstein's Diabetes Solution, you find most low carb cook books just don't really get it. This one mostly does, and while a few of the recipies are fairly obvious, it is the best of a dozen or so that I have purchased. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant book worth every penny! 2 Nov 2010

Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I attend a gym in Manchester called 'Primal Fitness' they recommended this book for good meals and snacks to avoid rice, pasta, potatoes, flour, wheat, gluten, bread etc. I was not sure how much use the book would bought it. I am really pleased I did the photos are great with easy to follow and measure recipies (a cup of this...a teaspoon of that). The best are the pumpkin muffins, crackers and butter nut bars (healthy protein bars). It is a America based book so you have to hunt around a bit or some of the bits (Coconut flour, Almond meal etc.) but its all well worth it. It has opened a new world of healthy but nice foods I do not crave the usually 'rubbish' I used to crave for. By the way the diet works take it from me...hard exercise and this diet is the business

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit disappointing 29 Nov 2012
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
The recipes are interesting, but what I hadn't realised is that they were all based at the US market and so quite difficult for us Brits, especially when we are just trying to get our heads around new stuff and learn to cook from scratch. I wish there were a UK version. It's not just about courgette being zucchini and so so on, but what are collard greens? I just used spinach, kale or green cabbage. There are ingredients in teh recipes that just aren't available over here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent food, beautifully presented. 25 July 2010
My wife and I have been eating broadly "Primally" for about eight years now so we already have a fair few recipes that we love. But this book has refreshed our repertoire with dishes that are very easy to make and leave you only regretting that you'd not known to cook them sooner!

The "Fish Soup With Coconut Milk" is ridiculously easy and quick to make. We now have to talk ourselves out of making it for every bit of fish we buy. And the "Pulled Or Chopped Pork Shoulder BBQ" is the tastiest way to eat a joint of pork we've ever found.

The "Desserts" section contains many things to tempt both those who don't usually eat a dessert and those who are new to this way of eating and consider the idea that they may not even want a dessert to be laughable.

The recipes are written in the same kind of informal and accessible style that Mark Sisson writes his blog and the excellent Primal Blueprint

One minor quibble is that the measurements are all in American measurements (cups, Fahrenheit) but hey - the Internet converts such things easily and besides, following any recipe slavishly is no fun!

Despite only having our copy for six weeks (hot off the first print run!) we wouldn't be without it and know other people that have also got a lot of inspiration from it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best paleo recipes!! 11 Oct 2010
By Ali1970
I've been looking for paleo type recipes for quite a while & this book is great. I've just made the mild liver pate on page 60 and it is gorgeous!! I also made Dutch oven chicken page 70 at the weekend and it was so moist and tasty. I have never left feedback before but I'm trying to follow paleo living and this just offers lots of ideas to try! Enjoy ......

5.0 out of 5 stars primal blueprint cookbook 18 Aug 2011
By hangdog
I bought this book because I was advised to go onto a paleo type diet for health and weight reasons.
I am not disappointed, most of the recipes are simple and easy to make, from everyday items but used in
different combinations. all in all a very good book for the price
