This is a highly regarded MMA event by fans of the sport and is one of the best ever,imo.
Pride at this time outshone the UFC and had many of the top fighters in the world and future stars on their roster.
Anderson Silva,Fedor Emelianenko,Wanderlei Silva,Antonio Rodrigo Noguiera,Mirko Cro Cop,Dan Henderson and Takanori Gomi all feature here and there are some great fights and performances.
Here's the full line up:
1/ Stefan Leko vs. Ikuhisa Minowa.
2/ Mu Bae Choi vs. Paulo Cesar Silva.
3/ Yoji Anjo vs. Ryan Gracie.
4/ Ryo Chonan vs. Anderson Silva.
5/ Henry Miller vs. Makoto Takimoto.
6/ Rulon Gardner vs. Hidehiko Yoshida.
7/ Mirko Cro Cop vs. Kevin Randleman.
8/ Dan Henderson vs. Yuki Kondo.
9/ Takanori Gomi vs. Jens Pulver.
10/ Mark Hunt vs. Wanderlei Silva.
11/ Fedor Emelianenko vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.
You will especially enjoy this dvd if you have heard of some of these fighters or,even better,seen them fight before.As a new fan of MMA,you would still enjoy it but might not appreciate the importance/significance of some of the fights and fighters.
The production value and fighter entrances of the Shockwave shows really are a sight to behold and definitely add to the appeal of this dvd.
Stand out bouts are:
1/ Fedor vs Noguiera.(My favourite of the 3 fights they had)
2/ Gomi vs. Pulver (Classic stand up war)
3/ Hunt vs. W Silva (Wanderlei has a big weight disadvantage in a close fight that possibly went to the wrong guy)
4/ Chonan vs. A Silva (If you have seen Anderson Silva in the UFC and think he is unbeatable,you may want to see this fight).
The majority of fights are good but the show does take a while to get to the big matches.
