Classic tournament.Great to hear it in English as I only ever heard it in Japanese back in the day when mma was underground in the UK and you got tapes by word of mouth from fellow mma enthusiasts;).I'm a gracie supporter but you have to take your hat off to Sakuraba! What a heart and his mixture of stand-up and groundwork was ahead of it's time.I will not spoil the finals for anyone that's about to/or thinking about buying this dvd(by the way 10/10,Def buy!),but if you know the winners history up untill this event, the right man won and got revenge for his mate, with amazing heart. You have to be patient with this dvd and see the techniques and chess games going on,especially with the Royce v Sakuraba fight!Ask yourself a question after that fight.Could you imagine fighting someone for 15 minutes? How about 30 mins?an hour!?Well how's about an hour and a half!!Seriously just roll with someone for a timed 3 minutes, then when the timer goes off for 3 minutes think about that 1 and a half hour's!Buy this dvd and watch as the best athletes in the world fight it out for $250,000 and the title of best fighter in the world......

It's hard to recommend this DVD to most potential purchasers. Few of the names will mean anything to anyone other than fans of Japanese mma.
In all honesty a lot of them were never really credible fighters. However those that were, were some of the very best.

Vovchanchyn and Kerr were seen as the top two heavyweights in the world. Coleman may have just been coming of a four fight losing streak, but he was a former UFC heavyweight champion with names like Frye and Severn in his win column.

Also present was the already legendary Royce Gracie, and the rising star Kazushi Sakuraba. Two men, with a score to settle.

Much like the lack of names, the lack of good fights is also an issue. Drawn out, slow and static judges decisions are everywhere.

Vovchanchyn's the guy to watch here. If he can stay standing or end up on top he will. And from there he does everything he can to finish.

Sakuraba to, in every fight he's looking to do something. Something new, something exciting, something to win the fight.
Which nicely segues me into the real reason anyone's considering buying this DVD. Gracie vs Sakuraba.

Now I'm not gonna lie. This fight is long, and much of it is clinching, stalling, waiting. But don't be deceived, these guys are never inactive, and at any minute they can explode and come within inches of ending it.

This fight is iconic, and unique. The tension and excitement builds like a horror movie. Even if you have no emotional investment in either of these guys (which would be amazing given their legendary status in the sport), you will by the end.
