4.0 out of 5 stars Good SF read. 20 April 2008
Format:Paperback
I've only just begun reading tv tie in books: so far Star Trek & Buffy. Now I wish I'd begun years ago, because it's going to take me ages to catch up! I love the way these books bring reconisable, and much loved characters to life. Not only that, but they're also set in interesting, & exciting scenarios. This volume is no exception. And if you're not Star Trek's greatest fan, don't worry. I think these books can be enjoyed by anyone.

1.0 out of 5 stars Star Trek. The Price Of The phoenix 17 Aug 2008
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This is the most boring Star Trek novel I have ever read. And I have read a lot. Although the characters could be interesting the story is badly writen and overly complicated with long boring conversations and little action. I suspect one of the two authors has a crush on captain Kirk and has him running around naked in much of the book. I forced myself to finish this book while on holiday because I had no books left to read and had to resist the urge to rip it up through the last half. Don't bother with this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book. Sequel even better. 15 Dec 2009
Format:Paperback
Had to write this after reading the one star review. This book cannot possibly be rated as one star!
I've read a lot of Star Trek books and this is one of the best I've ever read.
The sequel to this - "The fate of the Phoenix" being the best I've ever read (I bought the fate of the Phoenix first and then read it through the night to finish in one day - it was that good).
The theme is an intriguing one - imortality and the morals and power surrounding it as a commodity. Spock and Kirk are true to character and well written. I wont say more as it will spoil it.
Buy it and read it, if you are a Star Trek fan you will love it.
