4.0 out of 5 stars A great follow up... 18 Mar 2010
Format:Paperback
I'm surprised that this is the first review for this novel as it is a worthy read! The author follows on from the first book (Maneater) well. Laura Greenacre is now based in New York and 'existing'...a nothing job, trying to stay as inconspicuous as possible. John Thorn and his daughter are trying to live 'off the radar' in Wales...but the tides are turning against Laura, John and his daughter. A number of years after the Trafalgar Square incident, Ruth Templeton is out for revenge for the loss of her son and family as the London werewolves.

This book is a great follow up. It really is like a continuation...next chapter. Same writing style, generally the same characters and a new story trajectory based on revenge. I liked the matriach Ruth and we really get to see her domineering and relentless drive to destroy Laura and John. The book moves globally - Russia, Spain, America, UK...although the climax is a Times Square mirror image of the original London-based end to Maneater.

I really like Emson's style. He is engaging, descriptive, immersive and detailed. If you like your fiction with a supernatural twist. Buy Maneater and Prey and read them in order! Recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars great sequel 8 April 2011
By Maria
Format:Paperback
Thomas Emson is fast coming one of my favourite authors, his writing is so fast paced you can't put the book down until it's finished. Prey didn't let me down. My favourite book by this author would still have to be Skarlet but Maneater isn't far behind and this second part is just as good.

The only reason why I couldn't quite rate this book 5 stars is the end scene... It is too similar to the one in part one. I was expecting something new but slowly while heading towards the end of the book realized it was going to be quite repetitive to what I had already read. This was slightly disappointing but the rest of the story line made up for this small fault. Cannot wait to read more from Emson! Krimson being next on my list!

5.0 out of 5 stars Prey 1 Aug 2010
Format:Paperback
Although I haven't read the book itself I know that it will be just amazing because I have read his previous two books and consider myself an avid fan of his work. It is only a matter of time before his books find their way onto the big screen.
