Product Description

Product Description

A hayfever treatment clinically proven to relieve hayfever and other common allergies. Immediate action. Antihistamine and stereoid-free. Prevalin relieves the symptoms of hayfever in the nose and eyes without causing side effects. Once shaken Prevalin becomes a liquid that can be easily sprayed into the nose. It then forms a stable and impermeable microgel barrier blocking the allergens from irritating the nasal mucosa and causing symptoms. Prevalin also stimulates the clearance of pollen from the body. It can be used by children from 6 years old, pregnant women, breastfeeding women and athletes.

Having suffered from hay fever all my life (over 50 years!) and tried every treatment possible, from antihistamine pills (over the counter and precription medicine), drops, sprays, injections, inhalers etc, and all the unpleasant side effects that go with them - this is the first product I have found that really seems to work. Such a simple idea too, in that a fine gel coats the inside of the nose and so stops any pollen or dust from causing irritation.
I began using it six weeks ago, and have not had a streaming nose or the sneezing that I always suffer every summer, originally from May to August - but these days the season seems to begin earlier and I often now start in April. Last week I went out into the garden and pruned lots of shrubs and bushes with an electric trimmer, which would normally have had me suffering from hay fever for the rest of the day as there was clouds of pollen in the air, but I did not suffer any symptoms at all. To me, that was an absolute miracle!
Recently I started getting a cold, which with me always begins in the lungs and then moves up to the throat, and a few days later I develop a streaming nose and the sneezing associated with a head cold, but this time I only had a bad throat. Now this might be an absolute coincidence, but I wondered if the coating of the inside of my nose with Prevalin stopped it developing into a full blown head cold?
I would say that the down side is that you do feel a little blocked for the first hour or so after using it, but this clears. Also it smells exactly like toothpaste! So you do have to get used to a minty smell up your nose. It says that a bottle lasts one month, but I have found that after using it about three times a day, the bottle was empty after three weeks.

Although I don't think this product should be sold in its current state with the pump malfunctioning all the time, you can get it to work again by running hot water over the top part for a while, and then spray a few times until liquid comes out again.

So I used Prevalin for the first time last night after I started sneezing with the telltale itchy eyes, meaning it's hayfever season for me. One single squirt in each nostril. The sneezing stopped within half an hour and my eyes started feeling better, which was amazing! However within an hour I had a horrendous sore throat, one of the most painful ones I have ever experienced. Simply swallowing saliva was so painful it woke me up all through the night. 12 hours later and I'm still in pain having taken the morning off work. I see from other reviews I am not alone in this side effect. Amazon if you are reading this please remove "no known side effects" from the product description, that is plainly a lie.

If you do not experience this side effect then indeed this may be a great hayfever remedy, however for me I'd rather be sneezing than in agony, unable to talk or swallow without significant pain.

I have suffered badly with hay fever for over 40 years and this is the most effective treatment I have ever used. Antihistamines help but I have always still suffered quite badly. Prevalin I feel is a miracle cure. I do agree that I have found the nozzle gets gunged up but it has only happened with the bottles bought this year and hasn't happened in previous years....however a quick spray away from my nose has sorted this and bottle has been fine again. I do find I sometimes get a temporary sore throat if the gel runs from my nasal passage into my throat....but this soon disappears and for the relief I get from hay fever far out ways the slight discomfort which soon goes. I personally.love it but know others that don't so I suppose it is down to different tolerances and generally how each of us are with taking medications.

This works beautifully for me. A nice minty fresh scent and no more blowing my nose! You have to make sure to shake it really well (as the instructions clearly state) as it's a gel in it's natural state (which is what makes it work) so if you don't shake it, it'll block up the dispenser.

It is good when it works. There seems to be a problem with the pump. No matter how much I shake it, it gets blocked and the spray doesn't come out. Which is a shame because I really am trying to not use nasal sprays with lots of drugs.

Today is either the worse hayfever day ever recorded or Prevalin is making my hayfever 10 times worse. Since using it, I experienced uncontrollable sneezing, a blocked nose and head, and even watery eyes. That was fair enough when I was outside, but I've been inside for 5 hours and the symptoms got much worse after using Prevalin again.

This is a great product. My son suffers with hay-fever and find this great to use. You can use this if you are pregnant too. The lady in the chemist told me that last summer this product sold more than the usual big branded hay-fever products.
