I picked this up because I liked the original concept but it only took me 15 minutes to reach my eventual ending (allergic reaction to Thai food). I spent an hour or so following other paths and each ending became more outlandish and ridiculous than the last. This is great for a couple of hours of procrastination and mild amusment but it won't entertain you for long and there's no plot as such. What I disliked about this book was that the events were just too unbelievable. I know its supposed to be fiction but it ranges from being beaten by your boyfriend, to having sex with a mechanic just to get your car fixed to becoming a meth addict (a frequent problem for the character in most chapters). I just found it a bit senseless with no reason for these events happening because you jumped between 'paths' so quickly and the chapters were too short to establish the exact reasons certain situations arose making it difficult to choose options. As a result I got bored quite quickly and could not be bothered to keep flicking back and forth constantly which gets confusing.
All in all a different take on the traditional concept of a novel but I can't help feeling cheated that you buy a book and end up not reading most of it.

What a great fun book!
I'm still enjoying going back and reading another pathway through another lifetime; each time appreciating the sliding-doors moment of opportunity at the end of each chapter! totally worth buying for a playful, and sometimes thought-provoking, read.

I remember reading books in a similar format to this when I was a child but I have never come across one as an adult. This books is made up of lots of 2 page chapters inn which from the 2nd page you chose your journey of where you are going to go. This leaves you with countless paths to go down and hundreds of endings. Very cleaverly put together and a great read for holidays a you have one book but could spend your whole trip re-reading it and creating diffrent stories. will be purchasing the 2nd book soon.
