The toy spins very fast, the fishes open and close their mouths at a very quick frequency, you have to place the plastic baid very quickly and accurately inside the fish's mouth, then pull it out in the 1 second duration when the mouth is closed, otherwise you can't get it. It is even an interesting hand-eye + steady balance coordination challenge for adults, thus my opinion is that it is too hard for children.

My 3-year old loves playing with it but she gets frustrated because she can't get the fishes up. She ended up picking up the bait ball between her fingers, stick it inside the fish, then using the other hand to close the fish's mouth, then pull it out. Even so she only manages to get the fish 1 out of a few times.

This is an OK little toy for the price.

The 'fish' filled tray, revolves around a base containing raised areas which when travelled over, force the 'fish' to open their mouths, enabling you to use one of the 'rods' to catch it and pull it free. Whoever gets the most fish is the winner.

Very simply but is actually really hard. The tray revolves pretty quickly (and is very noisy), so the fish's mouths don't stay open for that long. It's hard for my 3yr old (her third birthday was last week) to catch even a single fish, she keeps having to turn it off. To be honest, it's difficult enough for me as an adult to play it how it's meant to be played. To its credit, it does state on the box that it's for ages 4+ but I'd have issue with even that age...more like 6+. To make it even more difficult, the designers have made each of the 'fishing rods' pivot at the end and move freely, so it's not just a case of putting a rigid plastic stick into the mouth when it opens, you also have inertia to take into account.

The other thing worth noting is that this takes a 1.5v 'C' cell battery (the short, dumpy round ones that nobody already has ever has in their cupboard and then has to go out to the shops specifically to buy one, and then they're only sold in 2s). :-) I'm only giving this 3 stars because of the price point...if it was any higher, it'd be down to a 2 star item.

I used to have a similar toy when I was a little girl and I remember it fondly, so I purchased this toy for Christmas for my 2 and a half year old. She loves it - the fish move around the board very quickly which keeps her on her toes. My 1 1/2 year old loves to put the fish back in the right places. It might not be the most educational toy, but it is great fun!

We got this for my 32 month old because he went crazy over some fish game at daycare. This was for 4+ but he was perfectly able to play by himself after a little guidance. Remember to get a c battery! That was my mistake. I like it because you can play with them.

This game is as other s said quite fast for children to catch the fish but my 3 year old grandson wanted it for his birthday even though it is for a 4 age group, however he enjoys letting the fish catch onto his finger and then pulls them out. I think it is a little bit pricy and would be better priced five pounds lower.

my two elder get this kind of game 10 years ago. I remember how they enjoyed it, so I bought this one for my little one.
She loved it ! It seems more fragile compared to the old one, but can't really complain for this range of price. I would recommend it for 3-5 years old children

I wanted to replace the game our children had more than twenty five years ago and this seemed the closest to our original one. The fish move more quickly than the original but young and old played it at Christmas and it was great fun! Will get it out for NYE tonight!
