Solwise Description - Pressac ADSL Faceplate Splitter - A splitter of the type installed and used by the BT engineer for an installed ADSL service. Replaces the lower half of the BT 'NTE5' master box and provides connections for both telephone and modem at sockets on the front panel. Connections are also provided for both filtered (phone) and un-filtered (modem) extensions hard-wired from the rear. We also supply the NTE5 original socket if you need to use a faceplate splitter at a location other than your main BT-Master socket.

I damaged my master socket(NTE5) before attaching this, through idiocy of my own, and I left wiring exposed while going into town to get a replacement socket. After fitting the new socket, and attaching the filter faceplate, I found my ISP had recorded my SNR(signal to noise ratio) margin and adjusted my signal in such a way as to reduce my speeds to a meagre 40-50Kbps download.
The main plus of the Pressac NTE5 compatible ADSL filtered faceplate is that it improves your SNR. Initially you should see an improvement in speed as your router receives a better quality of signal, but within the next week your ISP will adjust the signal sent to your router (based on you SNR), improving the speed again. Once my ISP had adjusted to the SNR on my line my speeds returned and then improved again over the next couple of days.

I fitted this little gem myself in under 10 minutes -after taking 10 hours of evening time on helplines and struggling with my software and hardware to figure out why my Broadband was so pitiful at 0.3 Mb. I live so far from the exchange that the max I can get is only 3Mb but that would be a blistering speed compared with the aeons taken for downloads that I was experiencing.
As mentioned in other reviews, the filter separates the ADSL from the rest of the house so immediately solving any interference problems from other extensions. My speed jumped from 0.3Mb to 2.1Mb immediately. The seven-fold increase in speed has transformed my Broadband experience, and all my equipment works faster too. I guess it is spending less time struggling to suck webpages in (or something ... I am not an IT techie so my understanding is rational but not based on expertise).
Whatever your Broadband speed, this socket will ensure you are getting the purest ADSL supplied by your main phone line -I am so pleased I bought it. Considering the time it has saved me, I reckon it has already paid for itself several times over!

I was a little concerned that I might not get any benefit out of this, because I plug my microfilter directly into the master BT socket, so I expected that there wouldn't be much benefit. What I found was that my d/l rate went from ~5700 immediately before installation to ~6500 immediately after, so I'm pretty impressed. Hopefully line training will give me an extra boost, but even if not, and extra 14% d/l speed for a one off cost is enough to make me happy. u/l rate for me went down from just over 1000 to about 980.

Fitted this to try and improve my Broadband speed. Did make a small improvement but best of all I was able to get rid of all the unsightly splitter/filters hanging out of the wall points in the rest of the house!

I bought the faceplate after my phone line became excessively noisy. This made it hard to hear people over the phone, and also made the internet connection unstable with frequent drops in our connection.
The faceplate is easy to install, and doesn't require anything other than a screw driver (longer screws included in packaging).
The filtered faceplate instantly solved the issues with the noisy phone line and poor internet connection.
Overall the Pressac face plate is well made, and gave good results beyond my expectations.

I had connection problems and my ISP was useless. Having only bought a new router 3 months ago and all my stats saying it was fine, my ISP answer was to try to send an engineer out with t.heir router which are rubbish. My office IT man checked stuff out and suggested this nte 5 faceplate. Ordered it and the small tool as I have an extension. Fitted in 5 mins but I was being really careful. Result no dropout and speed up from 7mb to 10.5mb from start up. Now at 12 mb. Wife delighted as no more ugly filters in each socket. Highly recommended.

I live a fair distance from the local telephone exchange, and living in a small cul de sac the telecoms companies didn't see fit to install coaxial cables down my road meant that I was limited to ADSL.
I spent a year wrestling with my broadband, intermittent connectivity problems, low download speed, and I had to reboot the modem nearly every hour! I was pulling my hair out. Failed downloads, frequent buffering, and sudden connection outages was killing me. Finally my patience wore out and I started looking for solutions.
As it turns out my master socket was put right next to the tv aerial and behind the tv meant that I was getting a LOT of interference. In combination with a rubbish microfilter (the standard one provided by the broadband company) and a redundant ring wire still connected that was apparently causing an induction loop (picking up radio signals and feeding it back into my phone line - not good for ADSL) meant for a very limited and intermittent connection.
While reading about these problems was when I found out about this little device. I heard it solved a lot of peoples problems but I was a little skeptical. Considering how inexpensive it was I ordered it anyway.
When it arrived the next day I was surprised there wasn't much instruction to follow. If you don't have any extensions then its pretty much play and play. I unscrewed the original faceplate and discovered that it did have extensions connected. So I re-connected them up to the new faceplate, left out the orange ring wire, and plugged the new unit into the master socket.
