In The Presidio the titular piece of real estate is the San Francisco military base that starts at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge and sprawls back into the city itself, co-existing uneasily with Baghdad by the Bay. The two cultures clash when a murder at the Presidio is assigned to civilian police detective Mark Harmon. Harmon has an uncomfortable history with the base commander, Sean Connery--and this relationship doesn't get any less tense when he also becomes romantically entangled with Connery's daughter, Meg Ryan. Unfortunately, the script by Larry Ferguson is a stiff, which suits Harmon's acting style. Director Peter Hyams knows how to choreograph an action sequence, but he has to keep stopping so that Harmon can actually speak. Thankfully, Harmon has the always-interesting Connery and Ryan to interact with, but that's only a small saving grace. --Marshall Fine, Amazon.com

I first saw this film on video in the late eighties and liked it very much. I have now upgraded to DVD and enjoyed it as much as I did then. Anybody that enjoys watching Mark Harmon in his current series "NCIS" would do well to check this out, Jay Austin is not a million miles from Jethro Gibbs. As far as the DVD release itself goes, this is a bare bones release with just the trailer as a bonus feature, but don't let that put you off.

Have enjoyed the film on the TV and wanted my own copy. Its a great story that moves at a fast pace. Very attractive casting with Mark Harmon a believable and attractive hero, Sean Connery always worth watching and an attractive Meg Ryan in an early straight role. The story begins with a murder that brings an ex army detective back into conflict with his gruff former Commanding Officer ,the Provost Marshall and his captivating but disturbed daughter.

Watchable film
Watchable film with a young Mark Harmon from NCIS. Glad Sean Connery didn't use an American accent whilst acting as an American soldier. Read more

A dated film but well presented
I enjoyed this film although it is a bit dated. The acting was good and the plot interesting. The film was well packed and promptly delivered.
