Generally this is a good book which provides clear insights into the world of teaching and learning in Secondary School. As a starter text it is good. It shows research and evidence. However it isn't a panacea (nor does it claim to be) it is an excellent starting point but much more reading is required to assist beginning teachers.

I have used this book a lot on my course as a trainee teacher and it has been invaluable for writing my assignments and guiding me through my teaching.
