I don't think the company have actually tested this product properly, I use a MacBook and the videos don't actually fit on the computer screen. This product has clearly only been designed for massive monitors.

Then the quality of the product is not something we'd expect for a product designed for Macs. It looks like it's been made at home, a poorly printed disk which looks like it's printed on a cheap DVD-R and shoddily cut and printed covers. Avoid.

Very disappointing 25 Sep 2009
By Darren Simons TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
This DVD consists of a series of short videos which explains how to do fairly standard tasks within Premiere Pro, the professional Adobe software programme for video editing.

However, although the media is a DVD the format is not and you therefore need to run an application to view the presentations on either a PC or a Mac (I viewed it on a PC but saw there was a Mac executable as well). It seems a little bit of a pointless exercise as they could have used a DVD... perhaps the resolution wasn't sufficient; I'm not sure. In terms of viewing it yourself, a 1024x768 monitor will not be sufficient, but 1280x1048 will be.

On first glance I thought this was quite good as during the first couple of sessions it provided useful introductions to key building blocks of Premiere Pro. However, I have two major objections to this product which have resulted in the low score I have given:

Firstly the actual content of this training video is poor. I don't know a huge amount about the various video editing products out there but Premiere Pro is the semi/fully professional version of Adobe's Premiere suite for video editing, as compared to Premiere Elements which is aimed at the consumer. My feeling with this training video is that it is aimed purely at the basic consumer wanting to know the basics to get them going. There are no advanced techniques and to be honest most of what is described could be figured out quickly from any Getting Started material provided by Adobe within the product.

Secondly the quality of the recording is actually very poor as well. Several times the video just stops and you have to wait 20 seconds for the video and sound to catch up. This seems odd as it suggests the product wasn't tested before being released (maybe it was only tested on a Mac, I don't know). On a positive note, the presenter is clear and concise in his presentation and does a good job at presenting it... it's the content that bugs me

So overall - not a great one although I suspect for the right product this company has some very good offerings.

Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
Premiere Pro like many Adobe products can be very intimidating for a new user, I find that there is nothing intuitive about using Premier and it takes an almost new mindset from other packages. BUT when you get into it the possibilities are endless. This DVD provided some very useful tutorials and information ans even as an experienced dabbler I found it usefull to use the tutorials to inprove my self taught use of Premiere, while you might think that htis version is outdated the layout and tools of premiere haven't really changed so you could use it with CS3 or CS5 if you wanted. It looses a star purely on price, you could buy several books on the topic for the same outlay and probably get a lot more information or use the online tutorials from Adobe. But worth a look if you are starting in to Premiere.
