Beware.. the two 5 star reviews for this really misled me into buying one, i'm sending it back.. I bought it to replace an old Bush freeview box which works fine but of course doesn't record or play usb stuff.
This wouldn't pick up anything at all without having a signal booster attached, the Bush doesn't need one & it picks up all channels.
The USB lead that one reviewer refers to as if it is something good is in ridiculous, it is about 3 inches long which means you have to fumble around behind your TV to plug something in, trying to connect two plugs which you can't see & which are really quite fragile and easily damaged.
And without this lead you wouldn't be able to plug any USB device in anyway, so of course it is included, it isn't a 'bonus' item.
The 'comprehensive english instructions' mentioned by the same reviewer are nothing of the kind, i saw an 'active aerial' option in the menu, but there is no mention of this anywhere in the instructions, which by the way were not written in english at all but clearly have been translated into english.. (presumably from chinese by someone who is chinese, you know the kind).
There was no way that i could find to reorder the TV channels, although this option is in the menu.. eventually i gave up, the 'comprehensive instructions' failed to include this too.
To be fair the channel search was very fast and the picture quality is good, although no better than the old Bush receiver that doesn't need a signal booster to pick anything up.
Watching vids via usb is possible, but there is no way that i could find to scan/search through a video, apparently you have to watch it all the way through.. of course there is mention of this in the instructions.
If you want a cheap freeview receiver, maybe want to record the odd short programme onto a 4GB flash card & you have a very strong signal, and don't want to use the usb feature at all then maybe this will be ok for you. If you want something that can usefully record to usb and/or play usb vids, and/or don't have a very strong signal or a signal booster then steer well clear of this.
