Poor Signal Reception & the USB feature is practically useless.,

This review is from: Premier AV TV-1108V-SD Mini SCART Freeview Receiver with Recording via USB Flash Memory Stick (Electronics)
Beware.. the two 5 star reviews for this really misled me into buying one, i'm sending it back.. I bought it to replace an old Bush freeview box which works fine but of course doesn't record or play usb stuff. This wouldn't pick up anything at all without having a signal booster attached, the Bush doesn't need one & it picks up all channels. The USB lead that one reviewer refers to as if it is something good is in ridiculous, it is about 3 inches long which means you have to fumble around behind your TV to plug something in, trying to connect two plugs which you can't see & which are really quite fragile and easily damaged. And without this lead you wouldn't be able to plug any USB device in anyway, so of course it is included, it isn't a 'bonus' item. The 'comprehensive english instructions' mentioned by the same reviewer are nothing of the kind, i saw an 'active aerial' option in the menu, but there is no mention of this anywhere in the instructions, which by the way were not written in english at all but clearly have been translated into english.. (presumably from chinese by someone who is chinese, you know the kind). There was no way that i could find to reorder the TV channels, although this option is in the menu.. eventually i gave up, the 'comprehensive instructions' failed to include this too. To be fair the channel search was very fast and the picture quality is good, although no better than the old Bush receiver that doesn't need a signal booster to pick anything up. Watching vids via usb is possible, but there is no way that i could find to scan/search through a video, apparently you have to watch it all the way through.. of course there is mention of this in the instructions. If you want a cheap freeview receiver, maybe want to record the odd short programme onto a 4GB flash card & you have a very strong signal, and don't want to use the usb feature at all then maybe this will be ok for you. If you want something that can usefully record to usb and/or play usb vids, and/or don't have a very strong signal or a signal booster then steer well clear of this.

Perfect for me,
This review is from: Premier AV TV-1108V-SD Mini SCART Freeview Receiver with Recording via USB Flash Memory Stick (Electronics)
As this is tiny and can be concealed behind the TV by being fit to the scart port of the TV, this is a perfect solution in my small room and verutally taking no space.Capturing so many digital channels nearly 100 as said means it has got the good tuner built-in and quality of pictures on all digital channels is sharp and well color-defined. Even when signal strength is quite low, this would be able to hang onto most of the digial signals and display ok. EPG response time is quicker than any other freeview receivers and Navigation menus are user-friendly designed. Excellent kit for the value !

Easy installtion, Good Picture & EPG,

I am so impressed how easy the installation is. Once the device is fit into the scart port of the TV with others being plucked as instructed in the manual, I would have initial set-up screens and then click, click all done ! I have started getting all freeview channels thru my TV. This little device would give much better picture qulality than expected with excellent sound output and dispay of EPG would come on quick and respond much faster than my old branded stuff. I have gone thru the menu options and found that they are quite user-friendly. I will recommend this to my other friends and very good value for money !
