Premier Manager 09 is the follow up to last year's PM08, which I have not played so I cannot comment on whether it's better or not. You get to be the manager of any team from the UK, France, Spain and Italy; controlling everything from stadia to who coaches your lads to victory. You play on a day-by-day basis, with alerts from the chairman, trainer, newsreel, medial assistant and transfer scouts; and on match day you have to select your team, and their formation and the way they play.
This is good fun, but it's a bit slow at times, plus I really get frustrated with the formation system, you can't tell X player to run up with the ball and pass it to the striker or do this and that if the opposition come at you like a steamroller. The coach yells at you for not fixing the formations, but what you can do is often limited.
The fact that a lot of the logos are not here is annoying, I manage PSG (Paris St Germain for those who don't know) and there's just a blue circle, none of the fair of the logo (Eiffel Tower, a baby's cot and the year 1970, when the team was formed).
Some good things though is there's a lot of scope, you can upgrade a lot of the stuff you have and you can buy and sell as much as you can do, plus you can choose your supporting staff, so yes this is pretty good for that reason.
Not exactly as much fun as Football Manager 08, but when you only have a PS2 for gaming this is perfect. Otherwise I would suggest
Football Manager 2009 (PC), due very soon by the looks of it.
