I thought it is going to be stronger and heavier like the ones i saw in the supermarkets. I tried to smash garlic cloves to make garlic paste and it didnt help me a lot even if i have ground the cloves in the minichopper before:( The pestle is very small and your things will slide under it as u try to mash them. I am also afraid to apply more pressure because the mortar looks very light and i might break it.... i am not very pleased with it... it was a disappointment.... might just use it to crush seeds or bread i guess:(

I brought this for my mum for her birtthday, and I think it's a brilliant little gift. It's a cheap price, and it came exactly when it was stated to. The packaging was superb, because this product would be quite susceptible to breaking if dropped, amazon did a great job with the packaging. It was all fine, no chips or breakages. It works just as you would expect, put your herbs in the bowl, and crush them. It doesn't take a lot of force so it's nice and easy, and it's much more sufficient than trying to crush it on a board with a knife for example. I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves working in the kitchen, and it's a great little piece of equipment, 5 out of 5.

This mortar and pestle set is exactly as descibed. Not too small, well made and heavy enough to be stable in use. It arrived the next day, beautifully packaged. Amazingly good value and just what I hoped it would be. Thoroughly recommended!

Nails on a blackboard
Horrible.

Not quite what I expected
The one I've received is different to the picture at Amazon being a different size (12 x 7 cm), a thinner body and it's cream inside not white. So one star deduced for that. Read more

Good
Smaller than it looks in the picture but a really good piece of equipment for the kitchen, for grinding chillies, spices and others. Value for money as well.

Nice Little Pestle & Mortar
Ideal for small home jobs. Grinding those herbs made easier but not really heavy duty and cannot take real battering.
