The grater does what it is supposed to.... it grates. I find the large grater plate a bit soft so it is easily pushed in by harder veggies (like carrot) consequently it fails to grate adequately sometimes. Also the food gets stuck under the top of the box plate (just under the handle) joint so it becomes difficult to clean. But I suppose it is worth the money. My next grater will be of better quality to avoid some of these observations.
As far as a cheese grater goes, it is what it is. The handle appears metal like the rest of the body but is in fact plastic. Had a few scratches, but for that price I am not complaining. However I am a prime member and with 24 hour next day delivery it in fact arrived three days late of the expected delivery date.
Fist time of using the handle cracked and then when washing it the handle fell off... Don't buy!!! Already in the bin and bough another one, a little more money but much more solid and much better value for money.
I peeled off the Premier Houswares sticker to reveal that the grater is actually old Co-op stock, showing the previous co-op logo. If I wanted such end of line rubbish, I'd go to the local pound shop or market and pay half the price.
I wish that I had bought two! It works like a charm and slices through my vegetables like butter. If there is any drawback it would be that I wished that it made thicker slices, but I'm happy with the they way that it does slice. It is a nice idea having the catch tray inside the grater. Very little mess and easy to clean. Really worth the value.
I don't use this grater often, but am happy when I do need it.
