The dimensions say that the diameter is 18 cm, however, this is misleading as it includes the small handles on each side.
The actual outside diameter is 15 cm, and the inside diameter is 11 cm.
I was expecting it to be bigger, but I actually like this size as it's not too big and heavy.
The mortar is milled from solid granite and is very well-shaped and symmetrical.
There were no cracks or veins, and the granite was even textured and coloured.
I like how the pestle is tapered so it's narrower where you hold it, and wider where it grinds and crushes.
The lacquered finish left a lot to be desired and wasn't even, it looked like it was very casually and carelessly brushed on.
In several places there were big runs down the inside of the mortar and on the pestle, and I had to scrape it off to make it look better.
These are minor points, and it looks and works great, but they really shouldn't have happened.
Overall, I would have no hesitation in recommending it or purchasing it again.
