Dont know what type of cooker the previous buyer used but I have had no problems with hot handles or lid using a gas fire cooker. Very good quality and sturdy with the heavy base. It has been used for about 1 month now and washed in dishwasher and still looks new. A quality product. Only let down is there is no lid for the frypan which could be useful for some dishes like risotto or pilaf
