I looked through around 20 pregnancy and birth books before choosing this one. It's very informative(the diagram of your internal organs being displaced by the growing baby was interesting!), in fact i felt that it covered more than much larger, more expensive books.
In a clear, concise way, with lots of useful photographs and diagrams, it covers the changes to your body in pregnancy(including hormones, organs, emotions).
It provides information on the choices you have, for birth, feeding and working, trying to give a balanced picture (Dr Stoppard looks at 'pros' and 'cons' throughout the book) .
There is a section on physical and mental relaxation, breathing, stretches and exercises suitable during pregnancy (with photos to demonstrate) and on preparation for birth. This goes from 'sensible' purchases for the new baby to preparing other children for the arrival.
The labour and birth is detailed and interesting, breaking down the stages of labour in detail, and also describing how they might feel to you. There are diagrams of the movements of the baby, useful positions during labour and delivery, help to birth partners and explanation of the various forms of pain relief. It also discusses medical intervention and complications.
I'm new to the pregnancy/birth game, so perhaps someone who has it experienced it might have a different view of the book (please review!), but I'm certainly finding it useful (and handbag sized too!).
