3.0 out of 5 stars Predators Comic Review 24 Aug 2010
By Neel
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
As far as I am aware, this comic is in one of three parts.
One part is taken from the perspective of Adrien Brody's character "Royce", one is done from the perspective of Alice Braga's character "Isabelle" and finally the 3rd part is an official comic sequel to the predators movie. I may be wrong, but reading on other fan forums this is what i have gathered.
Amazon shows in "look inside" section of this comic, the Royce story, however when i ordered this, i got Isabelle's side of the story version so i'm not sure what Amazon are doing there!
Basically, if you enjoyed the movie, then this is pretty much the same thing but from the Isabelle's perpective.
Personally I am a big fan of the Predators franchise and still thought the movie was just "ok".
Unfortunately the same applies to this comic version, as it only adds a few extras to what you wouldn't have seen in the movie; e.g. you find out a bit more of a back story to Isabelle's character and when the Predators abducted her to this Game planet.
And to be honest that's pretty much all this comic book adds.
Again, as i mentioned, as it only comes from the perspective of Isabelle, its not exactly a straight movie to comic adaptation, so everything that happens in the film isn't depicted in this comic! There isn't much to see in terms of Predators action either!
My advise is to stick to the other predator comics, especially the Omnibus editions, as you get a lot more value for money.
I hope this sheds a little more light into what you may think about purchasing.
Overall, like the movie, I was underwhelmed by what this comic had to offer.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointment 18 Dec 2010
By sadie1mae - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Like everyone else, I liked the movie so when I saw that this explained what happened after the movie I couldn't wait. The description of the comic tells you that you'll find out what happens to Royce (Adrien Brody's Character) and Isabelle after they survive the movie. WHAT A LIE!!!!!!! You have to buy the official sequel to find that out and then Amazon doesn't even have it and doesn't know if it'll be in stock. The title should have said RIP OFF for 6.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Souvenir of the Movie 9 Dec 2010
By Robert & Sarah Brock - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
The comic has a cover price of $6.99. It follows the plot of the Predators movie closely, except for the first six pages which provide a backstory for the only female character, Isabelle. For me, she was of the most interesting of the people in the movie, so I was very happy with the extra bit of story.

The art work is competent - the people look like the actors and the Predators look like... the Predators. If you've seen the movie, you won't learn much that's new, but it's a nice souvenir of the film.PredatorsPredators ( + Digital Copy) [Blu-ray]

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a paperback 26 Nov 2012
By Dibs - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is listed as a paperback but the description says it is a comic so you don't really know what it is until you get it and it is NOT a paperback book. Yes, like most comics, it has a paper cover but it is not a paperback book. Know what you are getting.

5.0 out of 5 stars A reasonable scenario for alien contact? 26 Mar 2011
By Charles Ashbacher - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
In the movie "Predator" an alien hunter/killer lands in a Central American jungle and engages in elite American team of commandos. The situation is reversed in this book; human killers are snatched from Earth and deposited on a jungle planet so that the aliens can hunt them. Only the best humans are selected, people that kill without remorse, although often for pleasure.
The background on some of the humans is given, although not on others in order to build up the tension and give the story a further layer of mystery. Since all of the people are killers, it is natural to suspect that some were psychopathic serial killers that would turn on the other humans if given the chance. Their only real chance for survival is to work together but that is difficult when the group is made up of such loners.
The tension is strong throughout the story, like the movie there are many close calls where the humans barely manage to live and at least one of the group is killed. When humans lived in hunter/gatherer societies, animals were killed for food and it was considered a sin to kill something for mere sport. However, when advanced civilizations developed and it was no longer necessary to kill to eat, the concept of sport hunting arose. Therefore, it is not unreasonable to believe that a highly advanced space faring species would have the concept of sport hunting and what better prey than the best human hunters. Intelligent, resourceful and tough creatures that could hunt back would make highly prized game. Perhaps Earth is really nothing more than a game preserve.
