Su un pianeta lontano la razza dei Predator ha creato il suo Colosseo senza pubblico. Raccolgono e ammassano esemplari di altre razze (per quanto ne sappiamo più che altro umani), li gettano nella foresta senza spiegazioni e gli danno la caccia apprendendo da loro tecniche e strategie. Quando sul pianeta arriva un gruppo eterogeneo composto da guerriglieri, soldati e mercenari, tutti a modo loro dei predatori nella loro vita terrestre, la faccenda si complica perchè pur non conoscendosi collaboreranno al fine di evitare di cadere vittime e tornare sul pianeta d'origine.

This film does exactly what you would want from a predator film. It takes a little while to get going but once it does it goes at a very entertaining pace. It's a 15 rating so its not as blood thirsty as the first 2 predator films but there is plenty of action and enough blood to keep everyone happy. Adrien Brody plays the lead very well, the supporting cast is good and there are plenty of duels, explosions and laser cannons to go around.
The only disappointment for me is that a fight scene with a samurai sword wielding yakuza mumber against a predator was just not long enough, but still great fun. And if that wasn't enough, we even have the legendary predator fighting an even bigger, badder predator. What more could you want? Anyone who enjoyed the first 2 films will definately like this one. The only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is because it was never going to be better than the original. GET TO ZE CHOPPER!!

Predator the original was a masterpiece. terrifying, clever, imaginative and a fantastic story line, cast and soundtrack. Everything about it, especially for its time, was great and the design of the Predator even today is brilliant.
So then why is it since then the Predator has been ruined. Predator 2, Predator Vs Alien and now this. It's just not the same. The films problem is that it focus' way too much on characters we don't give a toss about. The first predator was brilliant because there was one Predator that tore an entire group of soldiers to bits by itself yet now some random samurai man duels with the 7ft alien and equals its power.. I am sorry but Predator has been almost made human. the forest terrain is a welcome return from Predator 2's city attack which i felt ruined the whole fear factor as being in a jungle and being hunted is the ultimate fright.
Predators cast was poor and again the characters were just boring, nothing like the original cast. These fantastic designs for alien have been tortured since their original release in predator in 1986, and that's a shame since their designs are a masterclass.

Usual story line, but I was expecting that. Good acting and nice twist BUT the Predator we have come to know and love hardly appears. The protagonists are a different specis of Predator. I was hugely disappointed.

DVD (2nd hand) arrived in time and was in good quality. Its good to have in the collection and I wonder if a follow on film wil be produced?

AVP what?
A fine entry into the Predator canon with a peach of a set up for sequel(s). This is a fine example of cinema as escape for a couple of hours.
