Hmmm, well I read this book recently and have to admit I was a bit dubious from the start and to my surprise found the storyline fairly interesting. The waring of the Clans had never been done before and was a little concerned. However I found the main characters compelling and was curious to see what might develope between Andar and Laban, bearing in mind his relationship with Katrina.
Sadly the book tailed off into a spree of meaningless characters being killed and nothing coming out of anything. The Predators seemed as though they were guest starring in their own book, whilst they were about was quite good and certainly graphic. One word though kept getting on my nerves and damned the book. "HISH!" True Predator fans will know what I mean. If it wasn't for that word I could have accepted it into Predator lore that was so successfully built up by previous books, namely Stephen Perry.
Not a bad attempt, but left slightly disappointed and rather felt like it could never have been written and it wouldn't affect anything Predator or character wise.
Still worth a look.

It's a tricky business to capture the appeal of a movie franchise in a book, and the previous Predator Novel (Forever Midnight) was a prime example of how not to do so.

By contrast, Flesh and Blood is a good, entertaining pulp SF book which perfectly captures the monstrous charm of its alien protagonists. Friedman and Greenberger effectively get inside the mindsets of their monsters without making them too sympathetic or human. By contrast, many of the human characters to appear to be cyphers, but in large measure this is due to the story's casualty rate. Critically, though, this is a book which captures the feel of the movies for better and for worse.

In summary, if you enjoyed the two Predator films, this will be a fun read. Non-fans can at least expect a pleasant diversion.
